What position could Al Gore hold?
What position could Al Gore hold in the Kerry administration. I adore Al, and I wish he could hold some sort of position even if it is ambassadorship:)

Any Ideas?

2. Are you under the impression he is looking for work?
After being VP for 8 years and having the presidency literally stolen for him, I can't imagine he sees himself working for somebody elses administration.

Look for him to find a way to make a difference his own way. He is looking into getting into TV I think.

3. No,
I was just saying it since there is so much speculation about who is going to be appointed to what. I was just throwing out a name with an idea. He is our President in Exile from my POV. I adore him and I think that for the past four years he has been one of the only mainstream voices from our side, especially when the democrats went missing for whatever reason.

4. I never really liked Gore
He, in my mind anyway, represented the corporatist wing of the Democratic Party. I smelled corporatism in the DLC and did not like it. I hold the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and NAFTA against Clinton-Gore and will continue to hold that against them. We need new faces, not retreads of the old.

11. I think he has changed since 2000.....moved to the left
Being out of Washington for four years must have opened his eyes. He seems to be much more liberal now than he was throughout his career. Some of the speeches that he has given recently have been pure gold. I don't think he's a puppet of the DLC anymore. His endorsement of Howard Dean probably ended his relationship with that organization.

12. Maybe he changed, maybe not
I'm not going to speculate as to whether he has gone more liberal or not, but that simply doesn't refute his past record. The 1990s is, in my mind, the worst decade for the Democratic Party since before the Great Depression. If he changed, he picked one hell of a time to change because we progressives have had to pick up the pieces in the wake of that decade.

13. The DLC gave Gore no support the second time around
I'm not so sure how much support they gave him in the first go-round, really. I don't think he misses them, and I wouldn't miss them either if they suddenly dropped of the face of the earth, btw. Agreed on his recent speeches. I wish Al had stood firmer in 2000 and somehow pulled through, but I still respect him and I miss him. I hope he does find a spot working for Kerry's administration, even if it isn't an official one. He could do a great deal of good.
