aaargghh...just saw my dad on FOX news at Bush rally
audience shot...dammit. I don't see my family much, but am going home to see 32 year old baby brother (IRR) off to Iraq this weekend. Parents were leaning Dem in the spring... Bush in Cuba City, WI (pop. 2156 for God's sake)... dad wearing camoflague??? WTF... *sigh* what a weekend ahead. peace
Sometimes old GOP folks get all emotional about the GOP and they can't see the forest for the trees..
Remember that they are sending their son to Iraq and they probably need to feel like this Iraq thing is a good and right thing for their own sanity..so don't be surprised if they get all patriotic and emotional on you..
John Eisenhower (Ike's son and a retired Brigadier General), William Milliken (former Republican Governor of Michigan for 14 years), and Lincoln Chafee (Republican Senator) have all announced they won't vote for Bush. Both Eisenhower and Milliken are supporting Kerry.
7. I see it everywhere...like it was said up above...
parents of kids going to Iraq seem to feel the need to vote for Bush, to prove to themselves that their kid has to go, and that the sacrifice is not being made for nothing.
Hang in there! You have friends and support here! DUers here have been more supportive of my goals and efforts than certain family members. That's for sure!
And tell your family - everyone has their own style - in terms of supporting the nation!
