Election Day--DU Pledge?
I'm getting a little anxious about DU being able to handle all the activity next Tuesday. And with the speed things are already moving around here, I'm wondering if we could try to curtail some of our behaviors (although lovable and mostly fun) for Tuesday only.

Do you think we can try not to post endless threads about the same topic? Can we have a one-day moratorium on Copy Cat Threads? Can we all agree to read down the latest posts before we begin a new one.

There are many here still on dial-up and I would hope we would all want to make things workable and accessible to all on Tuesday when John Kerry is elected President.

Thanks too Skinner for thinking ahead and making adjustments

2. I will be channel-surfing and watching the talking heads explode
after I return from poll-watching (to make sure Arkansas is not stolen from us).

3. We don't need pledges or anything.
No one's going to be copycatting on election today. Leave it up to the people's judgement. It's usually pretty good.

5. Sounds reasonable to me.
Otherwise, the board is going to move like a chatroom, which no chance to reply.

7. It is so funny.
I get really jonesy if I can't get on, especially during important times. I think come Monday I will drop my sig and avatar hoping that helps some but I am already upset that I might not have DU. Damn, when did I get so dependant? I know there is a panic room somewhere. If anyone wants to share that info I would love it.

If I can't connect immediately I begin to get a little nutso! I know there is a DU group on Yahoo and another DU Panic Site but I don't know the URL.

If someone knows please post it.

I know I am going to require DU fixes all day Tuesday. I'm having an election Chili Eat Off on Tuesday but I want to be here with you all when Bush makes his concession speech.

9. Actually there should be little or no activity on this web site on Tuesday
Everyone here has worked hard to this point to furter John Kerry's chances of winning.
NOW, we need to get out there and volunteer to work at the polls or phone banking to get the vote out.
If you are posting here on Nov. 2 you are a spectator.
Get involved, I promise you will enjoy the experience.
You will not see any posts from me on that date.
I am working as Voter Protection here is Ohio.

11. Nope ain't gonna work
I'm not going to feel any guilt for checking in here in between all the work I'm doing Tuesday. I can multi-task and I have a laptop. I think everyone here is doing everything they can to GOTV and to ensure that the count is legitimate. I won't make any assumptions about commitment if you are here on DU as well.

13. That was my thought
I'll be working the polls all day and probably watching returns somewhere. I'll check in when I can, but don't think I'll be spending too much time here on Nov 2.

14. Why don't you volunteer as a poll watcher?
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 09:21 PM by Touchdown
a river, a corner sign waver, or something else? I'm going to be driving people to the polls all day. I doubt I'll log in until the 3rd.

If this site is worth it's salt, then DU should be VERY quiet on election day....otherwise I'd be VERY disappointed in the good people of DU, if this election ends up in court.

EDIT: I saw your post reply up there. Good for you!:hi:
