1. My mother said she saw a Sox player endorsing * right after game...
I didnt see it, but she told me today. SHe has no clue WHO it was, but they were all excited and bubbly and said 'dont forget to vote for *', which frankly I find very inappropriate at a baseball game...could it be him?

:kick:

2. Schilling's a "born-again"...
I can't say I'm overly surprised. He was thanking the Lord for all of his success in the ALCS and WS this year.

All I kept thinking was, "You know, I really think that God has bigger things to worry about than a bunch of guys being paid millions to play a game."

7. It was Bradley Whitford on Real Time
last week who said of a player that invoked that God or Jesus helped him to win .. .."oh, yeah ..God helps the Sports but he forgot the Holocaust."

Did you see John Henry accepting the trophy? And Tom Werner beside him? These guy are Dems and I read on DU that Tom Werner was going to be campaigning with Kerry!

And as for the likes of curt shilling..won't they be sad when "God" makes bush LOSE?!

3. "I'm not a role model"
who cares....were you basing your vote on who some that makes his living playing in a "park" was going to choose?

note: i'm a huge baseball fan, just not a fan of putting much stock in what people who happen to be in the pubic eye tell me to do...

6. Schilling is a great pitcher, but he's a religious nutjob.
He's a born again Christian and that's why he supports Bush.

10. Maybe someone should send him
an enlistment form? Anyone have his email? Or I guess the general email for the team would work too.

11. Why uhh Curt...are you in a Union??
Of course you are and thats the reason your ASS gets paid MILLIONS per year. You might want to put down the good book and find out which party fought for your right to talk about a union, start a union, belong to a union.

You think for a Boston second that Republicans would have ever let a baseball union exist the last time Boston won the WS? Your obnoxious wages came about because of Democrats sticking their necks out for you. Maybe you should do some research and then change your vote.

David

13. A jock telling people how to vote? Does anybody listen?
If they base their vote on the opinion of one jock, I begin to wonder at the wisdom of universal suffrage.

of all that is wrong in this country, is it any wonder his former teammates can't stand him?

16. Why are you surprised?
Did you really buy the bullshit about the Red Sox and its players somehow being this underdog, representing pluck and liberal values? Schilling, like most of the Red Sox stars, are mercenaries, free agents the team bought off others. Like most other rich people, Schilling is a Republican. No surprise on my end.

18. Is it okay for me to hate him now???
Always did. Nothing new.

Here's the thing. He and his wife are heavily involved in Lou Gehrig's Disease causes. I think his son is named Gehrig or something. I think someone in his or his wife's family had it. Am I completely wrong, or would ALS be something that would probably benefit from stem cell research?
