Anybody knowledgeable on the Marine Security Force battalion?

Friend of mine talking about Clinton deactivating the Marine Security Force battalion(?). I don't know the history, but it looks like there's connections to the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force concept developed under Carter, implemented in March 1981 under Reagan, the Marine 4th Expeditionary Brigade, and Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Teams (FAST).

As far as I can tell, Clinton deactivated (upon recommendations) the Marine Security Guard Battalion, which seems to be different.

Any Marine historians out there?

1. Most every US embassy abroad has a Marine guard...

...or three, or a dozen.

Are/were they drawn from this unit?
