Alerted the Minnesota DFL after voting,

My wife and I had a number of concerns:

1. Inexperienced precinct workers had the crowds too close to the voting booths.

2. The change from using felt pens to ball point pens and from connecting lines to fill in the ovals, would create many spoiled ballots

3. Our ballot reader was not counting votes.

Minnesota has always had high standards for voting. This is the first time in 36 years that I don't trust the system. The Minnesota Secretary of State is responsible. I feel violated.

1. My small town in Southern IL switched from felt pens to ballpoint
for the optical scanners too and I wondered whether that made a difference. But, we're heavily democratic in this town so I trusted that they knew what the hell they were doing.

5. Good Point. The felt tip pen was easier. Wtih ballpoint you have to do
a lot of scribbling.. a lot more movement.

6. The ball points can create a problem when they run out of ink.

3. I was at my polling place right at 7:00AM.
The only problem I saw was the lines being too close to the voting booths, but they quickly solved that.

I thought it was strange though that they gave you the option of waiting for a booth to open or you could fill out your ballot at a table next to other people.

Overall a very good experience.

** from Move On:

If you have questions about voting, go to the www.MoveOnPAC.org website for a list of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any trouble voting, make a report to the Common Cause hotline at 1-866-MYVOTE1.

Another hotline has been set up by a coalition of nonpartisan groups to deal with the most serious problems on Election Day. 1-866-OUR-VOTE is the "911" of voter suppression hotlines. Please don't call unless your problem is serious enough that you have to talk to a lawyer immediately.
