Going on a cruise out of Galveston on 12-26. How much is cab fare from Houston (main) airport to the port of Galveston?

Over $100. It's about an hour ride, at least. My advice is to find out if the cruise line has a limo or van service.

IAH to Ellington Field south of Hobby Airport is about $70-75. Galveston is about 45 miles further south of Ellington. If you can fly into Hobby Airport, it's closer to Galveston. Express Shuttle Service might have a direct bus to Galveston. Their phone number is 713-523-8888. Enjoy your cruise!

IAH is the bigger airport. Hobby is smaller. I called a shuttle service for transportation from a town near Galveston to IAH, and it was $35 each way or $60 RT (when I return). I htink they will give you better rates than cabs, but you have to book in advance.

Her's the deal. Round trip transfers cost $66 per person & I have 4 persons. That equals $271. If get a cab round trip & pay $200 I come out ahead & get better service.... Agreed???

Houston has a transit system with limitations--mass transit is coming to the area slowly. But Galveston is beyond the scope of Houston Metro. There's no transit system that covers both areas. (Back in the old century, an Interurban train connected Houston & Galveston. The tracks were dug up to build the Gulf Freeway.)

Also--which airport will you use? IAH (AKA Bush) is "The Big One" north of town & Hobby is south--in the direction of Galveston.

and there area always cruise line vans so I think that is your best option. If not, there are other shuttle service less expensive than cabbies. IAH is suburban so you will pay MAJOR to get across the city to Galveston via cab.
