Why would someone register to vote and then not do so?

Why would someone register to vote and then not do so?
They keep saying turnout even if really really good won't reach 60%. I don't get it. Why would anyone even bother to register? Maybe they just want to be on the jurers list.

3. They signed us up in high school...
...way back in 1987. I think it was at the same time we signed up for selective service. I didn't really vote at all in my 20's. I feel much more invested in the future today than I did then.

I think a lot of people who don't bother to register are caught by those who go out and register people. "Excuse me are you registered to vote? No? Would you like?" person thinks "what the hell?" and does so.

Unfortunately people who don't bother to go and register themeselves are ALSO the people who don't bother to go and vote. Therefore just because such a person registers when they are personally approached and asked to it does NOT mean they will bother to vote.

5. In my county, it was said that 30% of the registered Democrats
didn't vote in the last election (the governor recall election) but I think like you, why bother to register if you don't bother to vote? I am beginning to wonder if maybe 30% didn't get recorded. I'm still not convinced that Ahnold was legitmately elected.
