Very light turnout in my polling place (Riverside County, CA)
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 06:12 PM by SoCalDem
There were plenty of parking places at the library...I got a plce right next to the door, in fact.

Walked right up to the table.. no ID asked for.. voted, and was back in my car in less than 5 minutes.:)

Afterwards, I went to a little Mom & Pop store that I buy cigarettes at, and they have an informal "poll" going.. I always enjoy these people.. The Grandma & Grandpa are from Greece (don't speak English at all)..Dad is from Greece too, but married a woman from Guatemala.

Their daughter married a Korean guy.. So you can see that they ARE the melting pot that the US claims to be..

anyway.. about their poll..

The daughter had a chalkboard with tic marks for Kerry & Bush, and they are asking people who go in the store which one they voted for..They are marking the tally when people tell them that they HAVE voted.

Kerry 56...Bush 7...:)

3. I asked the Dad if that was all the customers they had
and commented that I hoped his business picked up..

He laughed and said that some people refused to tell him, and some said they were not even voting.. So I think some of the repubes here are a bit demoralized..and may not even vote :)

5. Yasou!
Cute story. Doesn't surprise me..... Greeks live for talking politics. :)

Which is good. We're going to have to learn to open up more about our political thoughts, if we want to regain our country.

Greeks tend to *love* their political discussions!

So, did you get some feta and calamata olives? :)

Opa!

7. Since Riverside County is pretty Republican maybe that's a
good thing. It could be that a lot of Republicans who don't want to vote for Kerry, won't vote for Bush again either, so they are just staying away and not voting. Keep your fingers crossed.

8. Hmm.
I know that there were 2-hour long lines in Culver City and Pasadena on Friday, right up until the point where the polls closed.
