2. MSNBC is alluding to a Bush victory speech tonight
They seem to be speculating that if he did, it would be to politically solidify his supposed win in Ohio.

I think he was waiting til VERY shortly after the election (no matter who won) to start an offensive in Iraq.

5. softening up with airstrikes
been going on for the last 12-14 hours. Of course, it's been going on for weeks, incrementally.

Civilians, arriving at hospitals & morgues, in increments.

7. Need to keep that image high
> The soon to be leveled city about the size of Pittsburg

Most of the news items refer to Fallujah as a "terrorist hideout" or
"nest of insurgents" without mentioning the size of the city.
When I heard how large it was (i.e., the estimated civilian population)
I was appalled that the newsreaders could so glibly refer to "softening up"
or "major assault" as if it was a raid on a rural ranch or something.

Pittsburgh is one of the few places I've visited in America.
That is a good way to keep the scale of the ongoing war-crime in mind.

4. All that was planned
The images of them preparing for war. Their young faces ready. On the verge of attack and then attacking election night?

Better than millions in ads. Now the pressure is on Kerry to let Bush get back to being the war preseident.

6. Yep
> Now the pressure is on Kerry to let Bush get back to being the war
> president.

This way is quicker than waiting for the lawyers to point out the
errors in declaring Bush the winner before all of the legal votes
have been counted (or re-counted if necessary).

Hunch: Tomorrow's headlines will start to press this attack home.

8. If anything I think it would enhance it
It would put pressure on Kerry to concede during a time of (manufactured) crisis.
