Tonight is WHY Iran-Contra mattered.
For too many years, congress (Democratic back then..both houses) paid too much attention to the "feelings" of their "friends across the aisle", and allowed themselves to softpedal the investigations.

* and his pals have shown us ONR thing.. When you HAVE the power, you MUST use it, or LOSE it.. We played "nice" , and now we are reaping the havoc.

Had we pushed the issue on Iran Contra, and done it ferociously, there would be lots of people in Central America who would not have lost their lives, and Geroge Bush#1 would have never become president.

I know that hindsight is 20/20, but republicans are like a dog with a favorite bone,.They never turn loose until they have devoured it.

If we ever get control again, I hope that some of the nambypambies in congress have gotten the message..

1. But then we would never have gotten Clinton!
I love Clinton, he's one of my heroes! We wouldn't have him without Bush#1.

2. Cheney's voting record...
...was only mentioned in passing, and Kerry's pursuit of Iran-Contra was barely mentioned at all. All of the "big guns" that were supposedly at the ready were never used. The nambypambies will NEVER get the message. And incumbency, and rolling over, will be rewarded. If we don't fight this now, here, it'll be a generation before we recover.

3. Yep
And who got rolled in Iran/Contra, only to congratulate themselves for "averting a Constitutional crisis"? Mitchell and Hamilton. And who did we float up to chair our side of the 911 committee? Mitchell, then Hamilton. Who was the Repub's first choice? Henry FUCKING Kissinger.

I knew 2000 was a lost cause when I saw Jim Baker land in Florida. Our guy? Warren "What's the name of that Sec'y of State guy again?" Christopher.

4. We can't let the bad guys win
The numbers are very screwy --

I simply do not believe that bush got the popular vote -- no way.
