No Church or Religious Organization will get another Dime out of me
That's it. I told my husband last night that I am officially done with the catholic church.

Those fundies and anti-choice freaks have given us a Nazi regime and now we are completely fucked.

Screw them and their charities. Let them sell the Pieta to pay for their molestation cases....they can just screw off.

1. Yep -- religion sucks
Think of the thousands of people being killed in the name of Christ.

3. In the name of Christ?
Why do you say that? Does it somehow help our wounded pride today? Not mine. Bush has NOTHINIG to do with REAL Christianity. NOTHING.

5. bush is a REAL christian
he accepted jesus as his personal lord and savior and was saved.

he can kill a million more people between now and 2008.

all he has to do is ask forgiveness and be saved again and he gets into heaven.

what is the problem here?

12. That's not real christianity
That's what one very vocal group considers christianity. It's not necessarily the teachings of Jesus, who told us to pray in private, give to charity without bragging about it, to live non-violently, to appreciate the good things we have, to recognize that we are all sons and daughters of God and to act like it.

Read Matthew 5-7, The Sermon on The Mountain. That is the heart of what true christianity is all about, and is, according to the Bible, direct teaching from Jesus about how to life a spiritual life. It's not about just one instance of total forgiveness each time one does something wrong, or purposely doing wrong knowing one is already forgiven for his offence. It's about learning to live a better way, showing kindness and understanding toward others, even those you don't like, and asking for forgiveness from those you hurt and giving forgiveness to those who hurt you.

The religious right has a pharisee-like side to them. It will take time, but the american people will eventually get sick of it.

27. I have to disagree -- It is real Christianity
Just because you have some sort of rainbows and butterflies belief, doesn't mean that you have real Christianity cornered.

But if you want to go on believing the way you do, be my guest, but don't expect anyone to rush to your bandwagon.

9. No, but 'real Christianity' must have had plenty
to do with him. A whole lot of 'real Christians' voted for him. A whole lot of 'real Christians' in Ohio didn't vote for him, they voted for John Kerry -- but then, they voted for an amendment to ban gay marriage and make it illegal for private employers to offer partner benefits to same-sex couples and common-law heterosexual couples.

I'm not Christian anymore, but this one would have pushed me over the edge, if I were, I sympathize with anybody who feels that way. Ronald Reagan, and the 'good Christian' ministers who got him elected back in the eighties pushed me over the edge, so I know how they feel.

2. Time to visit your nearest Unitarian Church.
You'll feel a lot better, and you'll be respected for your personal beliefs by everyone.

24. Amen on Unitarian Universalists
I've been a UU for 20 years and it has been a godsend to me and my family. It is truly a home for skeptics and for people who are sick of hypocrisy in "organized" religion.

Many of our nation's early founders were Unitarians or regularly attended Unitarian churches, including Jefferson, Washington, Adams.

11. I'm glad...
because then no money will be taken from the public without having taxes paid. Why does the government endorse religion? I thought we had separation of church and state. By not paying money to those people and spending it elsewhere, you are helping our country.

16. Me either.
I wouldn't cross the street to help a puke in need either. I hate myself for saying this, but it's really how I feel. I found out my kid's teacher supports bush. No help for her either. I won't even volunteer to help her at school. Fuck it. Let her do everything herself. I'm so pissed I can't see straight.

20. Smash the fleecers of sheep!
In my community the religious zealots had signs out in front of their right wing propaganda pits known as churches. "Vote your faith today." "Vote for family values". The jerks sent out their zombies to vote as if hypnotized.

We should put signs in the church lawns 'til they quit: "Thou shalt kill! Inquire within." "Don't help fellow man unless it is fellow Republican". "Church + state= okay for W. Founding fathers were idiots anyway."

Maybe we need evolution centers to counteract this low brow approach to life.

Apparently the candidate with the biggest body count under his belt always gets the votes of Christians. Pro-life, indeed.
