In case no one noticed, Kucinich was reseated handily
With about 60% of the votes. Looks like the champion of lunchbucket issues still gets a lot of love from his constituents, in spite of his newly-minted abortion stance, in spite of his having spent most of the electoral season campaigning for president, in spite of national derision for being a fruitcake. Seems like there may be something of value in being a plainspoken populist firebrand. You think?

6. I noticed.
I checked as soon as I got up; I want a clear voice somewhere in Washington.

And I wanted to hear something good, something hopeful.

8. Yes
It seems once the progressives actually establish themselves, they have staying power. How did Bernie Sanders do?

There is a lesson to be learned here.

won reelection in his partly freeperish district of Oregon.

10. Because Kucinich has un corazon y cojones!
Dennis Kucinich may have been the shortest candidate, but he stood the tallest of any presidential candidate this year.

Only people who don't understand called him a fruitcake.

Congratulations, Dennis! We'll need your strength now more than ever!!!!!!

11. And that "crazy" Cynthia McKinney won, too.
You know what? FUCK the right for getting to define who the FUCK is a goddamn fruitcake!

If America has a future at all, it's found in people of courage, compassion and wisdom like Kucinich and McKinney.

12. There's a reason that he couldn't get favorable publicity
We saw it in Minnesota, where we literally had to pressure the media into covering his appearances, which drew increasing numbers of attendees, and even then the TV stations gave him either no coverage or token coverage. The New York Times never covered him except in instances where he could be made to look flaky, as when some supporters arranged a "blind date" for him. (Or were they supporters?) In the days leading up to Iowa and other primaries, they listed every other candidate's schedule, including Al Sharpton's, but not DKs. He was referred to as a "fringe" candidate months before a single vote had been cast.

That's because DK knows how to appeal to working class people. I don't know if he could have become the nominee, given the same publicity that Howard Dean got early in his campaign, when Time and Newsweek practically had him inaugurated, but from insde the DK camp, it certainly seemed as if Dennis was being marginalized because his ideas were too dangerous.

It is the states that had amazing grassroots support groups that gave DK his greatest support: Maine, Minnesota, Washington, and Hawaii.

14. So much for the DLC denial of liberals and the desire to be
Republican lites.

Kucinich is the best! Proud to have voted for him in the primaries.
