A Second Passport?

Dear International Living Reader,

Over the years, many readers have asked, "Isn't it illegal to hold a second
passport?"

And: "Don't I need to give up my U.S. citizenship before I can obtain a
second passport?"

Or: "Aren't second passports for tax-evaders, criminals, and people on
the run?"

The short answer, in each case, is: No.

In fact, my son Jack, born four years ago in Waterford, is a dual citizen,
with both Irish and U.S. passports. His Irish passport arrived before his
U.S. one.

Indeed, many colleagues and friends of ours here at International Living
hold second passports issued by foreign governments.

Why?

Well...a second passport can provide you with many benefits. It can help you
travel freely...work in places you might not be able to otherwise...protect
your privacy...potentially even help you save many thousands of dollars a year
in taxes.

Furthermore, it can be easy and inexpensive to obtain one.

A second European Union passport, for example, can help you avoid the
20-minute-long immigration lines at airports in Europe. Nowadays, that
alone could be reason enough to hold one. But that's just the beginning.
A second passport also can:

** Help you travel freely around the world, without the hassle of visas and
extra paperwork. Many countries, as you know, do not permit entry to
travelers whose passports have been stamped by other countries they deem
"unfavorable." For example, many Arab countries do not allow visitors who
have been to Israel. Some African countries don't allow travelers who have
been to South Africa.

** Help you establish private offshore bank accounts. Many banks in foreign
countries aren't allowed to deal with U.S. customers. But with a second
passport, a whole new world of privacy and investing can open up to you.

** Give you peace of mind. You'll be able to rest assured that no matter
what happens in your home country...no matter what happens with business
partners or lawsuits...you'll always have a place to go where you'll be safe
and welcome.

** Help you reduce the taxes you pay. Of course, having a second passport
does not automatically reduce your taxes. There's a lot more to it.
International tax is a complicated and sensitive subject. But a second
passport can be an important part of an overall international tax-reduction
strategy.

No...not everyone can obtain a second passport as easily as little Jack,
fortunate enough to have been born in Ireland at a time when that country
was granting passports and citizenship automatically to anyone born on its
soil. But there are many ways to arrange a second passport...and many
countries offering them.

This is why the staff of International Living has been working to find the
best resource on second passports and dual nationality. After investigating
many programs, we've identified what we believe to be the most authoritative
and most reliable source: THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO OFFSHORE RESIDENCY,
DUAL CITIZENSHIP, AND SECOND PASSPORTS, produced by our sister
organization The Sovereign Society.

One thing to realize about a second passport is that there's no "one size
fits all." As I explained, there are many ways and many places to obtain a
second passport. The question is: Which one makes the most sense for you? It
depends on many things: where you might want to spend time outside your home
country...how much money you want to spend...where your ancestors are
from...whether or not you own a business...

The guide prepared by the Sovereign Society, just released last week in a
new, expanded, and fully updated edition, gives you complete details on
almost every passport, citizenship, and residency program currently on offer
around the world today...including:

** A little-known, 40-year-old loophole that allows Americans to get a 90%
reduction on their taxes by moving to a particular island paradise. This
tropical island retreat boasts crystal clear waters...secluded
beaches...beautiful national parks...tropical forests...plus a culturally
diverse and artistically vibrant society. You can enjoy world-class
diving...sailing...kayaking...hiking...exotic cuisine... Many Americans have
saved thousands--even millions--in taxes over the years by taking advantage
of this program. You could, too.

** The secrets of retiring tax-free in Italy.

** How to live in Britain and enjoy all the benefits British citizens
enjoy--without owing a penny in British taxes.

** An ancient Greek island in the Mediterranean--one of Shakespeare's
favorites--where you could qualify for residence merely by proving as little
as $600 in monthly income. What's more, that's all you'd need to live here
quite comfortably. Plus, the island is thriving with life, culture,
history...the people are warm and friendly...and the climate is one of the
best in the world.

** How to obtain the world's best passport for travel, investment, and
expanded opportunities--and how one in every six Americans is instantly
eligible for one. Most just don't know it.

** The easiest ways to qualify for an ancestral passport. Many governments
around the world offer second passports to relatives of former citizens. If
you've got Irish, or British relatives, for example, you may qualify
for an EU passport that enables you to travel and work freely in every EU
country.

** The last two nations that issue instant citizenship and passports -- within
90 days after your apply - (but it costs).

With a second passport, you can travel more freely and easily...expand your
retirement options...potentially reduce your taxes...bank and invest without
restriction...enjoy greater security, privacy, and asset protection
options...

Getting a second passport is probably a lot cheaper and easier than you
think. You only need the right information. For the complete details,

Sincerely,

Kathleen Peddicord

P.S. THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO OFFSHORE RESIDENCY, DUAL
CITIZENSHIP, AND SECOND PASSPORTS is written by one of the world's
top citizenship experts, Robert Bauman JD, and includes comments from
Dr. Marshall Langer, and Chris Kalin, Henley & Partners, Zurich, all experts
with combined decades of experience in this field. You don't want bad
advice when it comes to something like this. I promise you: This
newly revised and updated book from the experts at the Sovereign Society
is the most reliable source of information on second passports and dual
citizenship you'll find on the market today. For more information,
