Frustrated - So I wrote a LTTE
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 06:59 PM by Junebug1920
This is the first draft if anyone wants to read it. There is a lot more I would like to say, but they limit length. I know it's a little harsh, but these people really disgust me.

To the Editor,

For all those who thought it was a good idea to send Bush back to the White House, you will now be responsible for whatever befalls this nation in the next four years. You knew before you voted that this war in Iraq was based on falsehoods. Therefore, any deaths that occur now, whether it is our American soldiers, or Iraqi civilians who get in the way of our bombs, are now your responsibility. The blood of these innocents is on your hands, and that is a stain that will not wash off easily. And since Osama bin Laden was allowed to escape from Tora Bora so our soldiers could be sent to Iraq, any terrorist attacks that are perpetrated against Americans as a result will also be laid at your feet. I know many of you profess to be God-fearing Christians, and you think you have one of your own running the country. If your concern lies more with protecting frozen embryos than our soldiers and Iraqi children, then shame on you. It is your brand of Christianity that brings shame to your religion, and if this is what it means to be a Christian, then you can count me out. I will sleep well knowing I did not vote to put these bullies in office. And when they run out of soldiers to fight the Bush cartel wars, how many of you will rush to join up? How many of you will offer up your sons and daughters to fight? I somehow doubt any of you will be rushing down to the recruiting office. As long as it’s someone else’s loved ones getting killed or maimed, and not your own, then the war is nothing but a story on the evening news to you.

2. I see one little mistake
"escape from Tora Bora so are soldiers" should be "escape from Tora Bore so our soldiers"

3. Great letter, Junebug!
May I copy it to send to my depressed sisters?
One minor boo-boo: ...Tora Bora so OUR soldiers... Sorry, I'm sort of anal about grammar/spelling.:hi:

7. Send it to as many outlets as you can. I'll bet somebody
publishes at least some of it. You wrote what I was feeling!

10. I think the two local papers will publish it
You can only publish every 30 days, I'll have to check how long it's been since my last pre-election letters were published.
Maybe I'll send to a couple of papers in the state as well.

8. my coworker shared similiar sentiments
his words were "Why is it 'Christian' to vote republican when the democrats have the Christian values?"

His wife is repub and he is democrat so he told her "if you vote for Bush, you will be to blame when our sons (15 and 13) are drafted to fight this war. You are choosing Bush based on a moral issue--but why is it more important to save marriage and fetuses than our children."

9. Great Letter...
It sounds like the conversation I had days before the election with a friend who is fundamentalist. The points you brought up are the points I mentioned. We had a friendly discussion but I'm so upset with her radical thinking I'm not sure I want to be her friend anymore. She practically accused me of not being Christian enough if I didn't vote for Bush.

11. Thank you
I would tell her you don't want any part of her version of Christianity. And if that ends your friendship, then so be it.

12. Great letter...
I was mulling over the same ideas for one...the blood is on your hands. My husband and I have had MANY letters published (we got to know the editor) and had "fans" who would attack us. I know the gloating is coming so that is exactly what I was going to tell them!

Go for it...editors are supposed to print the whole spectrum of views and there is nothing obscene in being truthful and blunt!
