campus cop for DK in 2008
Got to talking with one of the campus policemen this afternoon. He was mad as hell at Kerry's loss, but not surprised. He believes Kerry threw the election on purpose. (Don't get mad at me, folks, I'm just bearing the news). As far as he was concerned, even if Kerry had won, things wouldn't change substantially for the better because Bush and Kerry are both from the same New England ultra-rich set.

I agreed with him that the Democrats had other choices that would have been more of a difference, including my favorite, Kucinich. The officer lit up immediately. DK was exactly the sort of person he wants in the White House: a working man who knows from personal experience how rough daily life gets. A guy who lives in a regular house in a regular neighborhood. That DK didn't get much support in his bid is something that the cop attributed to elitist conspiracy.

I was already in a mood to push for Kucinich in 2008, and this just seals it for me. I want Dennis's face on every Sunday morning talking head show. I want him for minority whip. I want him front and center, the icon of the common man (remember the common man? the Democratic Party was founded by and for that fellow).

DK in 2008! We may be foolish to dream such a dream, but we will get plenty of notice in between now and then. And if we go down in flames in 2008, well, we won't be doing any worse than the "sensible liberals" of 2004.

1. Dennis would not have given up.
He promised to run til the primary, and with no press, no serious consideration from many here, still did just that.

and he won his seat again in OHIO.

i kick myself for giving up on him at the end, but i jumped on the K/E bandwagon when it was necessary to be united against *moron.

sigh.
