the two solitudes in Canada were both reality based. Yes, they had their own views of that reality, but at bottom they were/are dominated by pragmatics, by facts, by reality. That allows them to come to compromises.
The two solitudes in this country (the US) are different. One is reality based. One is not. There is no resolving that difference.
The good thing is that I believe most moderate republicans are reality based, and the non-reality based groups -- fundies and neocons -- are a minority.
The question is how to get moderate republicans to break from their non-reality based party, or to take it back so we can get back to normal policy disagreements, rather than the current attempt by nonreality based Bush admin to impose its fantasy on the rest of us in this country and in the world.
