1. Yup.
Unify, organize, get to work. Sulking is selfish, and we don't have time for it anyway.

3. We have more on the line in 2006 than 2008
If we don't win in 2006 don't expect to win again.

4. Like this?

I don't remember what each abbreviation stands for. Most are self-explanatory.

5. I e-mailed the Colorado Democratic party yesterday
I am still waiting for a reply.

The time IS now. We must start with NEXT years election, and get familiar with the issues on our local ballots, and work hard to defeat ridiculous right wing ballot measures that are sure to be there.

Stand up for what is right, and what is TRULY moral. Tell the truth. Unmask the hypocrites.

Work for the 2005 election, and start thinking about 2006. There will be many targets in congress there.

Start today.

6. I think our GOTV efforts need work
We need better data, better training, more contact with our potential supporters.

We need to build a grand hierarchical network down to the block level. Concentrate on registering and turning out even more minorities. Push the campaign to improve the accuracy, accountability and credibility of the voting machines.

We have a long way to go. The internet is underused. What are we waiting for?

7. What we really need
is a means of contacting like minded thinkers as reliably as the right wing churches served that role for Bush.

We were knocking on doors one at at time, contacting new/lapsed voters individually. It worked well - Kerry got 10% more actual votes than Gore when Gore won the popular vote. At the same time, however, every Sunday (and often 2-3 other times each week), Bush supporters were able to contact groups of a few to hundreds who were all together and who were able to feed off each other's fervent anti-gay and pro-prebirth life sentiments. Even if only 30% turned out at the polls, that is a far more efficient means of reaching and motivating voters out than the one on one contact we were doing.

9. You're right
The churches and their related networks really did a good job for the shrub. The 25% of evangelicals who voted for Kerry need to break away from the homophobes and start teaching that Jesus wants us to take care of the poor and the natural world.

But for the rest of us, I don't think it's realistic to meet people face-to-face on a weekly basis. DU is our church. Let's get organized.
