Perot didn't do well at all in the South, outside of his home state. The South was just much more Democratic in '92 and to a lesser extent, '96, than it is now.
6. not perot, but someone like him may well emerge
the republicans have been, and can be split. bush will have a tough time pleasing both the theocrats and the more secular "tax cut" repblicans for the next four years.
