Bush has a mandate.
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 08:48 PM by Pobeka
So says Dick Durbin, 2nd most powerful dem senator?

I don't have the exact quote, was driving and nearly punched out the radio.

But it was something like:

"Bush may have a mandate, but we are not going to lie down and be pushed around..."

On Edit: This was second hand quote, it was the cnn news spot on AAR and it was given as "Sen Dick Durbin, now the 2nd most powerful democratic senator, said today (what I quoted above)"
--

Either:

1) I belong to the STUPIDEST political party on the planet.
2) I belong to a party that is in cahoots with the GOP
or
3) The dems know a recount is going to happen, and gain 3 million votes, so they can then claim President Kerry has a mandate.

My money is on 1) or 2).

I'm seriously confused now.

2. Ummm...I think Durbin is on your side.
I think he just quoted Bush. Durbin has quite a set of balls when compared with other senators. He does what he says. I think he ought to be leading this party.

5. I hope he's cute...........
Seriously though I would have to lean toward #2, but pull back a little from them being in 'cahoots', but rather that this is the current Democratic leadership doing what they do best, duck and cover.

6. No Sen. Durbin, "Bush has a Man Date"
Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.

7. QUOTE: "Even with a mandate it was a thin mandate."
Senator Durbin is pledging to cooperate with president bush and the republican majority on major issues-- but only if they meet the democrats half way. That means no Supreme Court nominees who want to outlaw abortion, gay marriage and stem cell research.

"Even with a mandate it was a thin mandate. It was a majority but a -- not an overwhelming majority. So I hope the president really tries to gather us together in a bipartisan fashion," said Durbin.

8. What I heard reported by the CNN news spot was something different.
Because it was Durbin on the one hand saying * had a mandate, and on the other hand the Dems were not going to lie down.

What royally pissed me off was no single Dem (or sane person) should be repeating the line "Bush has a mandate". I can't say for sure if Durbin said this because it was a second-hand quote from cnn.

Thanks for your quote, that sounds better, but he should not have said it was a thin mandate. How do we stand any chance of killing that insane meme if our top people go around repeating it?

11. The only mandate he has is..
he survived, and managed to utterly dismiss the more than a hundred thousand petitions signed on line for his impeachment.

We lost in the Senate. We lost in the House. Those who were so intent on the Presidency, missed the point.

There isn't going to be any stopping this insanity, and, after another four years, we probably won't have a choice, or the right to vote, and democrats will have to sew "donkey patches" on their clothes so they can be easily identified.

We are going to lose the Supreme Court. And then, we are, guess what? A one party controlled nation. And that leads us to what? as history has taught us.
