How is the job market?

With a population of 30 million, maybe we can migrate North and help make Canada a more powerful soft power and spokesman in the world in the future.(that is if you guys want that kind of thing)

I have no idea how Canada thinks, can some of you give me a idea please?? Thank you =)

2. In the main, we're more socially progressive, financially responsible.
More communitarian, more reserved, yet more open to strangers. We don't get offended easily, we have all the TV stations you could want, including most US stations.

4. Thank you for that
I haven't been myself since Wednesday,we do need to fight this fraud.
I was in the mind set probably brought on by anger and short spats of depression.

was thinking ahead about what if the machines are used again in 2006,2008,I was in the mind set that because the media is owned by the same people that support the people in power our voice will not be heard very loudly.

basically in a defeatist mind set, your short come back to my inquiry of asking and thinking about going to Canada woke me up. =) thanks.

5. I'll take a stab at some of your questions Notafraid
I'm a Canadian living in California and have been away for several years but here goes:

what are the laws?the same?

The laws are pretty much the same but you don't have to appear in court for stupid offenses. Like minor traffic violations and stuff.

what about American life do you not like?

I dislike how ingrained religion is in the political system here. I find it rather strange. In Canada there is never any mention of religion or God in politics. If there was the politician would not be tolerated and kicked to the curb.

Also the war like mentality (of the republicans) why do so many countries need to be invaded or have American democracy forced down their throats.

what do we do that is rude?what is considered rude in Canada?

Bad manners and arrogance are not very well accepted. I think this is why a lot of Americans get a bad rap in Canada. Canadians generally stop and listen to each other and don't try to force opinions on each other to much.

like a cartoon i saw,do you have cable TV?HBO,ESPN American TV?

All Americian stations and cable stations (except FOX Cable News) plus a lot of european and international programing.

How is the job market?

The job market is looking good as many American companies are outsourcing to Canada for various reasons including the healthcare system which is easier for them to bear.

With a population of 30 million, maybe we can migrate North and help make Canada a more powerful soft power and spokesman in the world in the future.(that is if you guys want that kind of thing)

That would be cool. I love most Americans (especially the liberals) and Canada could use an insurengce of fun people. Just leave all fundies and zeloets here please.

I have no idea how Canada thinks, can some of you give me a idea please?? Thank you =)

Canadians generally have a Live and Let Live attitude and local news stations are controlled by the CRTC which is in turn controlled by Parliment which has 5 (I think) political parties. So no one party can infulence the media.

I may be incorrect in some of my answers but like I said it's been several years since I lived there.

Hope it helps.

Will

8. Will, thanks! Do you know the process of how to get started on migrating
to Canada? Is there a site to help me with the process you might know? It looks rather expensive to move to Canada with the paper process. (Sigh) I have been without work for over two years now, but if I felt I could get there, I might just have to buckle down with a very low paying job (if I could even find one of those - thanks Chimp!) and try to save up for it!

Thanks!

10. I can't speak for all of us....

but I will try to answer your questions.

What are the laws? Not too different from most States, really.
A little less intrusive in some ways, a little more like a nagging parent in other ways. There is no smoking in public places. Unless of course you're smoking marijuana. Then it's OK: if you're holding less than a half ounce, you just have to pay a fine, but no criminal record. That's the new legislation they're about to pass. Otherwise, there are lots of funny little bylaws, which everyone obeys, because we believe in "peace, order and good government." Hey, two out of three ain't bad. :P

What about American life do we not like? Surprisingly, it's not that different in most ways, except it's a bit cleaner here, we don't have ghettos, and not quite as many guns and stupid people. Instead, we have a friendly but convoluted and inefficient federal bureaucracy which tries to look after everyone, but ultimately pleases no one. We all love to complain about it until we look south of our border, then we remind ourselves that actually we have it pretty good.

What do you do that is rude? Well, acting like you run the world, and claiming that the world owes you a debt of gratitude is considered somewhat rude here. Also, you would need to lower your voice a bit here. We have this strange habit of only speaking loud enough that the person across the table from us can hear what we're saying, not the whole bar.

What is considered rude in Canada? As long as it's clever and funny, pretty much anything goes. Making a lame joke is a social faux pas and will immediately peg you as a yank. Otherwise, it's kind of hard to offend Canadians. Remember the South Park movie with its Oscar-winning song, "Blame Canada"? Well, NOBODY here was offended by that; on the contrary, everyone thought it was a hoot. Heck, we're tickled that anyone notices us at all.

like a cartoon i saw,do you have cable TV?HBO,ESPN American TV?
Interesting that you get your information on the outside world from cartoons. Don't worry, you can get whatever cable package you want to pay for here, so you can still get all your favourite channels. Except for FOX News, you'll need a satellite for that.
Oh, and you also get our beloved CBC for free. No hockey this year, though. :(

How is the job market? It depends on what you can do. If you're a nurse, come on up! Honestly though, I don't know all the details. Technology is a burgeoning sector though, and we wouldn't mind a little "reverse brain drain".

With a population of 30 million, maybe we can migrate North and help make Canada a more powerful soft power and spokesman in the world in the future.(that is if you guys want that kind of thing)
I guess. We'd rather you stay in the US and fight to take your country back. But if you truly want to move here, and aren't afraid of a little snow, you'd probably be welcome. And it wouldn't seem all THAT different to you: think of a great big huge Vermont.

PS. you'll need to learn to spell correctly: "colour", "neighbour", "doughnut", etc.

14. I got two questions....
Will I be able to get all NFL games on satellite if I move to Canada? Will I be able to get all Major League Baseball games during the summer on satellite if I move to Canada?

If I can still watch the Patriots and Red Sox, I'm ready to move.

18. wow, eh?
I used to live in the UP of Michigan and got called Canadian by friends back home all the time. Which is just something I thought I'd say. It has nothing to do with this.

I'd love to stay here and fight the progressive fight. But Canada seems like the progressive promised land.

What type of teaching jobs are there?
