I blew my top and told a local radical this today

How do we retake the so called values side?

Welll Al Franken did it this morning with his resident ditto head, and I did it out of anger this afternoon

Well I was minding my own bussiness when the local radical said, it is cold

He just stood there as if I had hit him on the gut, I did not apologize... and I will never apologize anymore.

What is even sadder is... you vote on one issue... not noticing how they are fleecing you... because they covet YOUR wordly possetions and yes, even your daughter.

I think the idea of his only daugher going to war really scared him... you could, no pun intended, see the fear of god in his eyes.

By the way, when you have these arguments you may want to pepper your response with Cheap Labor COnservatives and slavery... economic slavery

We need to be more definitive here.
With respect to poverty, we can all HELP the POOR instead of criticizing for political prowess. Making the poor pawns is inappropriate. Remember, "they" believe that "God loves the poor, he made so many of them." and "God helps those who help themselves." What can WE do to help the poor?

Also, "they" believe that in a capitalist socierty, that there are some rich and some poor based on thier own efforts, life choices etc. In a socialist society, there are more poor and the rich stole from the poor. We need to be more definitive here.

the first thing we can do though is REFRAME IT in a way they can understand.

Going over the poor need our help becuase gov'ment needs to will not get traction.

But... but... but we can reframe it using their own value system... who did Jesus spent time with? The rich? Hardly... he spent his time with exaclty the people they deride... we need to make this plain and in their faces... The christian thing is to help the poor, not the socialist thing... it is the christian thing. Steal their thunder on "moral issues."

in the flesh, to know that our anger is real and that many tens of millions of people in this nation, even people they know and love, really feel this way. Too many of them are too comfortable in assuming that their narrow rigid set of beliefs are the most common and only valid set of beliefs in this nation.

I expect that for the next few years, you progressives & Democrats down there will be doing a LOT of talking about "values".... which is probably a very good thing. You will need to really show how hollow their values are, and clearly define the positive values you want to promote.

Then the 2008 election will be about the triumph of "Democratic Values".

at the hospital. A priest/minister (with a white collar) was in the elevator, and a middle aged prune-faced repug hag got on. She said to him "Well! I bet you're glad HE won the election." He said "no Maam, I am not, not at all" "Well why not? Aren't you against abortion?" and he told her if you are pro-life you have to be anti-war, and he said he was. She got off the elevator all huffy.
