Are you 1 of the 55+ Million? Well, let's act like it!
WAIT & WORK for 2006 or 2008? NO! I want to ACT NOW for America!
Take Clinton's advise and change our image and ways. NO! I want to ACT NOW for America!

I have read more than a few posts with a general topic of ‘Boycotts’. Those headlines got me thinking.

Here I am, pumped up and wanting to DO something NOW to help reclaim the influence we lost on November 3. There were 55 million of us who voted and then lost. That is a lot of resources that are not currently involved in being the 'loyal opposition'.

A 55 Million group is something to be contended with if we do more than just prepare for 2006 and 2008. The Repukes are counting on us doing the ‘right’ thing and just ‘crying in our beer and whining’. They are counting on us being ineffective and just letting them continue with their course of doom for America and the World. It is time to harness our potentially powerful group who voted against the current administration and achieve something tangible in the short term. By doing so we will keep our opposition cohesive and active and ready for 2006 and 2008.

The Goal: As I see it, the immediate goal should be to exercise our muscle and Ensure that the Federal Voting in 2006 and 2008 be fair and honest. If it isn’t, no matter how much effort is put into the races in 2006 and 2008, it will be to no avail because the results COULD be kidnapped by opposition and turned to their benefit as many believe happened this past election. It should be federally mandated that ALL FEDERAL ELECTION be held in a manner that allows for an audit trail to be produced at the time each vote that is cast in a federal election. How State, County, and Local elections are conducted and what is used to cast votes for those election are up to the States and Local authorities but when it involves the Federal Contests, then Federal Law preempts.

THE ACTION: We proved that WE can raise more money in 5, 10, 20, and other small denomination that added up to the LARGEST amount EVER raised for the Democratic Party Candidates and various 527 groups.

If on the average, we withhold $10 to $100 for each of that 55 Million voting population, we could deny 550 million to 5.50 BILLION per month to our economy. By just denying this discretionary spending we hurt the RW & the Bush Economy where it hurts.

We have shown what WE can do with fund raising for our candidates, to contact the advertisers for Sinclair Broadcasting to prevent propaganda from being shown, etc.. We have power! We can use that power if we want to and have the discipline to achieve great return on a small investment. In fact, withhold $50 from the economy and you have just saved $50. We can flex our muscles and show the world that the 55+ million have not been beaten into whimpering and trying to be more like them so we can win election.

3. What I would like to see is a true top-down leadership in this effort.

The mewlings and pukings of the bigshots in the DLC did NOTHING to help us over the last 4 years -- they were too busy trying not to make the Pubs "mad" at them. I want someone like Dean or Clark to be the head of the DLC. And I want them to build an organization that can effectively marshal and direct the folks like us (with our input, of course) in the way we need to go for the next four years.Anyone who thinks that we, as individuals, can change things by writing LTTEs to our local papers and talking to fundie neighbors is in la-la land. Look where it got us.

We need to have think tanks pumping out news stories to our own major network, our own tabloid that has screaming headlines in the grocery store lines every week, major efforts coordinated with Congress to have election methods changed, etc. etc. We need to attack these people viciously, day in and day out, for 4 years, in order to shift any opinions at all. Saturation coverage, starting now. We better hurry up, because 4 years will be gone before we know it.
