Which Party is more negative and hateful ?
The Republicans, sometimes with innuendo, call Democrats "unpatriotic", "immoral", "flip-flopping liars", etc... They question the Democrats love of country, family, and humanity.

The Democrats accuse the Republicans of being deceitful, of lying, of distorting, of being "fascists", of "starting wars on false pretenses", etc. Which Party is worse?

I would argue that the Republican name-calling goes much deeper and is more hateful and spiteful than the Democrats, but that is only my perspective. Any thoughts?

1. I would say that there's a lot of hate on both sides...
But ours is fact based. Theirs is faith based.

2. Seriously, is there ANYTHING on our side...
...that even comes CLOSE to an Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, etc...? Al Franken poked fun at Rush Limbaugh, true, but look at all the horrible things Limbaugh has said.

8. I agree....Christian Fundamentalists...
would be happy if we were all sucked into the depths of Hell this second. Liberals are not criticizing conservative ideas (fiscal responsibility, etc.)but, rather thier judgmental condemnation of liberal thinking.

4. Much Democratic criticism is
based on facts, that is why so many educated and intellectual people are on the left. The republicans know they can sway the less educated with name-calling and false associations. And not having the truth on their side that is all they can do. Unfortunately it is very effective.

5. You betcha I have some thoughts!
"I would argue that the Republican name-calling goes much deeper and is more hateful and spiteful than the Democrats, but that is only my perspective. Any thoughts?"

**How about this: NOT ANYMORE! From now on, I am declaring open verbal warfare. They can dish it out, but they run whinng to their mommies when things get thrown back at them. Good! I can be just as hateful as the next man, and do not feel compelled to hold back any longer. I tried it the civilized and idealistic way, but no more. If these folks want to destroy everything that has been accomplished in the past 300 years, so be it, and I will laugh at them from the sidelines and remind them that they got exactly what they wanted, and richly deserved. Fuck 'em all!

6. Your post seems to imply that being hateful is always bad.
Hating evil is good. All the things that you say Dems accuse the repugs of are true.

7. simple: the difference is one party is telling the TRUTH
republicans lie when they call us immoral, unpatriotic etc...

We are not lying when we point out they they are lying, distorting facts and starting wars and false pretenses.

9. All you have to do is look at Newt's list of words to describe Democrats
to get the answer to that question. The Republicans have made a blatant attempt to demonize everything about us.

11. Maybe a tie, but that doesn't ask which party lies the most.
We are hateful and negative. I am hateful and negative towards Republicans, because I see every last one of them as a child killer and traitor right now. So it would be hard not to have negative feelings towards them.

But my feelings are based on fact. Theirs are based on lies or misunderstandings.

12. That's good moral values now
Seriously. Proliferation of hate is THE major moral value in this country now. That's what "morality" has come to mean - hatred and oppression of those who believe things that you don't.

13. my conversation with * supporter last night
1 "those illegal immigrants are taking away all our jobs"
2 "those swift boat folks were democrats: kerry is a traitor"
3 "those arabs want to kill us all, bush is saving us"
4 "those people who don't have jobs are lazy...there are plenty of jobs out there"
5 "the economy is doing great"
6 "those people who don't have healthcare...fuck em. if we have univeral coverage, it will degrade the health care we get now"
7 "social security should privatized...we can all have more money"

we had a in-depth discussion (well, somewhat of a yelling match), about this last issue...her pet peeve.
me: what would we do with the people who invest with the enrons of the world? would we just watch them die in the streets?
her: they'd have social security :eyes:
me: but you just dismantled social security, so what would happen to them?
her: if we modeled our system after the chilean system, there would be some safeguards for people.
me: is that the system bush is proposing?
her: no, but i wish it was
me: then...WHY did you vote for him?
her: if people don't invest their money right...they get what they deserve...
then back to 1-7.

does this qaulify as hateful? it occurred to me that this woman in really quite naive and idealist...that's what some call nader supporters here. frankly, i prefer the greens' version of utopia.

14. We need to re-name
the two parties. Republicans and Democrats make it sound like they're different.

Both parties are owned by corporations. Both parties have million dollar leaders. Both parties have middle class people that are finding it harder and harder to get by. Both parties have millions of people that live in poverty.

It's the Human party, and the Corporate party. We then find out who is on who's side.

We find out if entertainer's on either side are actually fighting for the people, or their pockets. We see if they'll throw their million dollar career's away for what they believe in.

We find out which politician that only listens to the lobbyists have any shread of humanity left.

We find if these truly religious everyday Republicans(not Falwell, etc) want to follow Jesus, or if they want to drag themselves to the million dollar Church Mansions every Sunday.

Want to do what George Lakoff says? Well then lets change the language.
