My mom loves Giuliani
She livs in upstate NY and voted for Kerry but for some reason is absolutely crazy about Giuliani. I cannot figure this out and I didn't have the facts at my disposal to point out what is wrong with him. I know that he would never get the nomination for Pres. because he is too liberal for the Republican party now. There is no way the fundies would vote for him. But if he runs for Senator, either against Hilary or if Schumer leaves, he would probably win. I am trying to dig up some dirt on hime so I can send it to her and show here what he is really like. I am not talking about the divorces or that kind of thing.

2. Tell her to watch her heart
He plays around, does she know that? He'll only hurt her, despite his declarations of love for her.

18. LOL
I don't get it myself. He has always mean to me. Sure, he might have cleaned up Times Square but what about the homeless?? 9/11 happened and all of a sudden he's a saint????

3. new yorkers have always hated Guiliani- ugh!!
Yeah yeah, he pulled people together after 9/11- any person who loves NYC in any capacity could have done that. He was a freakin' terrible mayor who ruled NYC via fascist cops and racial profiling. Ugh. We used to call him "Adolph Guiliani"- he might have made the city "safer" but at minority and poor people's expense.

He made a disgusting campaign commercial for Michels here in Wisconsin and invoked 9/11. I just moved here 2 years ago after living in the city and the commercial made me want to vomit.

I'm sure he wants to run for president- and that will be frightening.

5. He's too liberal to be nominated by repubs
It's just not going to happen. He's for gay marriage, if I am correct. Fundies would never allow that..!

7. He's not necessarily too liberal...

for the GOP. After all they just showed that they would turn-out in droves to reelect a veep who... says, at least....that he honors his lesbian daughter and her relationship and that he opposes the special-rights-for-heteros referenda that just passed in 10 states.

Besides... like most successful politicians G. is above all a consumate opportunist and will be willing to change his positions at the drop of a hat. Witness his public adoration of B. in the Campaign. He'll drop abortion rights and gay rights like hot potatoes soon as it's convenient. This would further reassure the far right.

Far as "dirt" goes, he treated his ex-wife shabbily, did the "adultery thing", and I'm pretty sure that, like all the current crowd, he dodged the VN draft. They're was some media coverage of a connection of his father ( long deceased) to organized crime but they dropped it abruptly. In fairness, he prosecuted many mob figures successfully as US prosecutor before he ran for Mayor.

He was in some ways a successful mayor, but benefited heavily from the fawning media in NY... which favors cartoonish Mayors who deal in simplistic solutions to complex problems.

He's showing his age. He better make his move now or forget it.

Paul

He moved his girlfriend into the Mayor's home (Whatever it is called) before bothering to get a divorce. Truly scum in his personal life. What, no, just a typical Republican.

11. I think Guilliani is campaigning for the VP position in this admin
His face is all over the network news channels...not an easy task since his nose is securly up Bush's ass.

Cheney is NOT a viable candidate for the 2008 race. We know it, they know it. In 2005 or 2006, he's going to step down...probably cite medical reasons. McCain is too much of a maverick for these people and Guilliani has the popularity of McCain and the willingness it seems to follow the current agenda.

13. He was screwing around on his wife and....
in public with his GF in before the divorce was final?

"You could say that Giuliani's image has suffered somewhat in the press, but, the way I see it, not much. In fact, there has been some evidence that his public standing has been strengthened by his courage in the face of prostate cancer and his declarations of love towards Judith Nathan as "the woman I love." It was Giuliani who openly dated Nathan, a former pharmaceutical sales executive, while he was still married, practically daring the media to report on it, as they eventually did. He revealed his relationship with Nathan to the media without alerting his wife that he was going to do so.

Yet Giuliani has received some respectful, even admiring, press for his discovery of his inner self, with almost nobody in the media pointing out that he is a married Catholic man having an affair while campaigning for a New York City "decency" panel. "

16. Giuliani was in on the 9-11 cover up
He sold off the rubble of the twin towers to the Chinese BEFORE any forensics could be done.

Giuliani is a traitor who participated in the greatest mass murder of American citizens ever.

If I saw him on the street, I'd punch the coward right in the mouth.

20. Make sure she knows about Rudy and Kerik's WAR PROFITEERING!
What an outrage! They run around the country telling people that Iraq was necessary because of 9/11 and NEVER do the people find out that they are both in on a security business in Iraq making a FORTUNE!

21. Isn't it weird
How he wasn't going anywhere towards the end of his term but after the horrible deaths of 3,000 people, he's the front runner for high seats of office? I suppose that's all he has going for him. Why was he hated in the first place?

22. He is Catholic and...*gasp* pro-choice!
Though he could always change his stance on abortion, but then that would make him..wait, that would make him a "flip flopper," wouldn't it? :eyes:

He can also be very divisive and vindictive: there is a story I heard once where he had an argument of some sort with a City Council member and he went into that member's district in Brooklyn, closed a day care center, and opened up a mental health clinic in its place. Nice, huh? Unfortunately, I don't have any links for you on that. I heard it a long time ago and never forgot it.
