What I now know about the United States

1. You can exercise your right to vote, after thoroughly researching the candidates, make your choice, and then be labeled unpatriotic and unmoral.

2. You can openly lie to the American people in Presidential and Vice-Presidential debates and be elected to office.

3. You can allow the worst disaster to ever occur on American soil to happen, and be elected to office again.

4. You can call teachers terrorists and retain your job.

5. You can underfund educational mandates and be heralded for it.

6. You can bankrupt the nation's economy after unprecedented surpluses, and be elected President.

7. Not allowing gay people to be treated like human beings is more important than having enough jobs, health care, and lowering poverty.

8. You can proclaim to be a Christian, show no Christian values in public, and be elected President.

These are just a few of the recurring thoughts I have had in the last few days. Please feel free to add more.

You can enlist for combat duty in the Navy, RE-enlist and request hazardous duty, earn the silver star and bronze star and three purple hearts ... and be called "unfit for duty" by someone who used family connections to avoid the draft by getting into the TANG and then not completing your obligations to serve in the champagne unit.

I'm hoping this list gets very long. There are so many to add!
