Chris? Elizabeth? Is anyone out there?
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 12:48 PM by Wife_of_a_Wes_Freak
I feel lost. We had a leader, our leader was taken from us. We spin without reason, turn on each other, and mourn alone.

Isn't there anyone left to lead US?

4. Can we please not badger them?
I want a leader too, and I'm not saying you're badgering them.

I just hope we all suppress the desire to threads like "Elizabeth, the Democrats in Moose Lake MN have internal problems. Can you tell John to go there and yell at them?" and "Chris, can we go on a date after you personally solve all the voting machine problems?" (SO suppressing that one, LOL!)

Yes, I'm being a Nervous Nellie and a meanie.

6. The last thing I would dream of is badgering them
I know they are tired from their fight... I know Elizabeth has health and personal issues to deal with. I suppose I didn't take all that into consideration when posting my thread.

I feel like I'm blowing around in Dante's Hell... we had a firm direction, and now we have none.

How can I fight if I don't have a leader? All we hear is that the moral issues beat the social issues. I don't WANT to live in a country that is divided between those who want what they want, and those who want what is best for others.

I don't even know WHAT my party stands for anymore. They issue proclamations for unity and change, but unity with WHO and change in WHAT direction?

How do we stand strong, wait patiently, or do something in between, if we have no direction?

7. I can totally agree with that. On Wednesday I was FURIOUS at MMoore's site
and the DNC's site showing, basically, nothing.

We are READY. We are ready to fight, to march, to do whatever is asked of us, and NOBODY'S ASKING.

That drives me right up the wall.

And again, I didn't mean to imply (if I did) that YOU were badgering Chris/Elizabeth. I'm just wringing my hands wherever I see their names, LOL.

8. IMHO
the new progressive torch bearer is Bev Harris

Consider contributing in any way you can otherwise we'll never get decent leadership again.

9. Please try to get a grip

We lost an election. Nothing more; nothing less.

Let's let them have their healing time. They deserve it for all their hard work. Elizabeth especially needs time now.

I'm sure there will be plenty to say in the coming months and years.

When you think about it, nothing's changed. We've simply stood still. Our job now is to keep up the good work that we started since W took office. And that really is the work of us ground floor folks.

14. Remember what Dean said?
The power lays with us. WE are the power. Don't we all get that yet? Stop waiting for the sugar daddy. It's up to us. We can recruit Kerry, Clinton, Dean, any one of them to assist us but...IT'S IN OUR HANDS NOW!

16. BINGO !!!
We don't need to be lead, we ARE the leaders, DAMMIT.
This is OUR country.
OUR flag.
OUR electoral process was hijacked.

Quit waiting for an angel to come down from heaven and tell you
what to do about it --- that's what the other sides does !

We have issues to work on, actions ongoing - turn your angst into
energy and make some calls or send some follow up emails !!

Find a group whose working on a nearby count, or petitions, or toss
up a thread saying 'I am at x, my talents are y, and I am wiling
to commit z hours/miles/dollars. Give me a project.'

WE HAVE THE POWER !!!!

I can’t thank you enough for all you've done. You worked so hard and cared so much. You gave me a voice, and you amplified it far beyond anything I could have expected. I am so grateful for all your support, contributions, letters, visits, emails, and continuing commitment. And for your determination to move our country forward.

We made a difference, and I think the country and the Democratic Party are better for all we did together. We moved the debate forward. We offered a powerful critique of the Bush-Cheney go-it-alone policy in Iraq. We laid out real solutions for waging a smarter war on terrorism. And we provided significant financial support to House and Senate candidates who share our views.

We didn't win on Tuesday, but we’re not giving up.

This is a difficult week for all who believe in our vision of America. Like so many of you, I worked hard for John Kerry. Like so many, I believed John Kerry would win. And I believed John would be a good president. Thank you for supporting him. I very much regret that he won't be there in the White House for us.

Much will be written about this election. People will analyze the nominees, their platforms, and the processes. There will be detailed looks at the electorate. I'm sure our party will look hard at itself -- its ideas, policies, and approaches.

We'll likely be very tough on ourselves and each other -- but I hope not too tough. We want to strengthen our party and our ability to compete in the next election and the one after that. So we need to show each other some appreciation, too, to keep it all in perspective. We did a lot of good, and we have to build on that.

I'll be listening to their views -- and to yours. It will take time, effort, and honesty to sort out the lessons. But I hope you'll be there as we do so. And participate. I look forward to reading your ideas and hearing from you in the coming days.

As for me, well, I'm continuing with efforts in the private sector. But I haven't lost my love for this country nor my concern for her welfare. So I’m not going anywhere. Through WesPAC, I'll continue to speak out and fight for the issues we care about and the values we stand for. We must bridge the partisan divide in America, but we’ve also got to keep fighting for what we know is right.

Thanks again for standing beside me over the many months. We may have lost the first battle in the fight for our nation’s future, but it’s far from the last one. We've got a lot left to do, and I promise to continue the effort to assure a safe and just nation.

Wes Clark

That's where I stand today -- don't be so quick to think they've left us.

that Elizabeth wrote us. I was crying.
But as someone said in a democracy we are the leaders and we have a fight to fight.
