Has anyone else heard from nonactive, not involved politically
people, who because they knew YOU were active chose the day after to express their dismay, depression, anger, helplessness about what happened?

I HAVE

We have to capture these people and somehow ease them into activism.I've mentioned DU a lot and other sites.Frankly, I think the first step is getting these people better informed.

What else can we do?

1. My sister's friend who didn't want to hear about politics but did vote Dem
was beside herself the day after the election. I think people who weren't active are getting it now.

2. I invited a co-worker to join me at a county Democrat meeting
Funny you should mention that. I've a colleague who, as it turns out, is more or less in alignment with my own political views. And he told me flat out, "I want to devote some of my time, now, to make a change." He's been active in his community, and in charitable work, but never politically.

I've invited him to a local county breakfast meeting in a week. I hope he goes.

Anyway, thanks for your message--I think we all ought to work to get at least one other person we know to volunteer some of their time.

Just one suggestion. By all means, I agree that having your friend check out DU is a good one. But nothing beats pressing the flesh and seeing real people who are of kindred spirit, from different walks of life, coming together.

4. I'm also slipping him an occasional nugget
like the other day, I had a printout of that wonderful "patriotic poster" seen here:

http://whitehouse.org/initiatives/posters/lookit-poppy.asp

Got a chuckle, anyway.
