Could we have a forum for people who want to look forward
and another who want to complain about what happened this time?

If I see a post like the one complaining about clinton's comment by mentioning his "flabby white ass" one more time, I'm outta here.

We should be pulling together and talking about ideas, not calling each other names.

Does anyone else out there who feels as I do know where I can go for support and positve action? I can't stay here with people who want to pull the party apart.

fuck, the GOP doesn't need wedge issues, we're pretty good at finding out own and using them to divide us.

1. get any 5 to 10 people in a room...you can find wedge issues.
especially if those 5 to 10 people all believe passionately about a particular subject. especially if they all feel angry, disappointed, and shocked. Sometimes it turns inward.

But I fin the best way is to not suggest positive..but to GO positive.

We must each and every individual BELIEVE that WE HAVE THE POWER. WE HAVE THE POWER.

you can make a difference on this board. I can make a difference on this board. By extension, when we go to work, visit with friends, meet with fellow Dem activists, we can change people's attitudes and shift to a forward looking message.

I think 4 days after the disaster there is plenty of room for both WHAT HAPPENED? and WHAT'S NEXT types of posts.

3. I guess its not the "what happened" posts that bug me, its the
Kerry/Clinton are pricks kinds of posts.

If you can prove fraud, bring me your evidence. I'm a lawyer and my job is to evaluate evidence. I've not seen it yet but I LOVE that many of you are looking. I sent my money to BBV.

As for the "Kerry has not balls" and Clinton has a flabby white ass posts, I can't take it right now.

4. Yes We have to FIX THE PROCESS. As long as we look back we will make no
progress. We have to keep our eyes on the prize. I need help writing a model intuitive for he Texas ballot calling for Electronic Voting Standards. These Standards need to be forced on the Radical right who stole the election. If we are to ever live in a democratic state again we have to make sure that votes are counted correctly.

Electronic voting and counting machines should have:
Open Source Code.
Independent Third Party testing and verification
of accuracy and reliability
Voter Verified Paper trails
Security in process (Version Control) and
place (Physical Security) as well as hack proof = no modems attached or used anywhere. All data shall be communicated on verifiable permanent media IE CD.

IS there any one out there who can help me put this into acceptable form for a Ballot Intuitive? :hi: :loveya:

8. All of your election system ideas are advances over what
we now have. However, just by acknowledging that the system was a result of your looking back at what happened. We're on the same side though. Don't worry about that. Perhaps we need a good mix of studying the past in order to improve the future.

6. I am at loss ...
as to what to look forward to in the current situation.

That is no pessimism. Look back four years. How did that go?

Look at the problems surfacing with the election count. How is that going?

Look at how ultra-cocky Bush is and note his delusion of having a mandate. What kind of future will that bring?

Look at the Radical Right-wing Religious Republicans who are now feeling both vindicated and enthusiastic about the next phase of their Christian Revolution. How do you respond to it considering its current momemntum?

Look at the SCOTUS situation. Decisions that might outlive us will be decided by Shrub's nominations. How do you change that?

So, it is the NOW in which we stand that is the major issue to me. Our influence on the future is really going to be one day at a time. The long-term future is already cast and looking too far ahead without changs in the short-term can be upsetting.

7. Unfortunately, we were only able to view the odd results of the
past election AFTER it happened. If you don't mind, you could at least be patient with those of us who are having a difficult time believing stats that are way beyond the realm of probable. And as for Clinton, his lack of character has already be clearly shown by his putting his flippant sexual desires ahead of the Country. Those silly acts alone should have disqualified him as our leader regardless of how intelligent or charismatic he might be. His sex acts allowed Bush to take office in 2000. And in 2004, I know that he's been in bad health but, prior to that, he barely lifted a finger to help. He only added more that that mealy mouthed DNC crap like Donna Brazile spread, the type of stuff that got us defeated in 2000.

I don't think that the election fraud, if it existed, was the sole reason for the 2004 outcome. But, its damn worth investigating because even if fraud didn't occur, its obvious that it is all too easy to do.

And what are you concrete suggestions other than to admonish us to not criticize this or that? If you are sincerely one of us and desperately want to find solutions to this horrible political but merely disagree with some of us on certain strategies, then rave on brother. But if you are one of those freeper bastard lurking in here to try psyops on us, buzz off please.

9. It's a free speech zone. If you have something positive to look forward..
to look forward to, then post it and we'll all jump on board. The problem is that you DON'T. Neither does anyone esle. So swallow that horse pill called reality and figure out what you're going to do with your life. But, don't belittle members of DU for being honest, truthful, and united. If you don't like it here, try freeperville. They like thinking about our future.
