2. What a GREAT idea.........
That way our western states and our NE states would have a really easy time becoming one country. I love it.....how do we do it?

5. First you have to fight a civil war
It probably won't take as long as the last one, but the aftermath may be rather messy and inconclusive. I foresee a "shock and awe" campaign over the major industrial cities of the North and West. See Iraq.

Our military just follows orders. They don't particularly care who is getting hit by the bombs, even if it is their own mothers. Sorry, that's just the way I view them. It took 18 months of watching atrocities against innocent civilians for me to become this cold and hardened toward them.

I'm all for the secession of the blue states from "Jesusland" myself. And I live in Texas. I might even move to the Pacific Northwest if you guys were to join Canada. My grandfather was born in Ontario.

But Lincoln set the precedent. Ever notice that it is always the Republicans who want to force seceding states back into a union against their will?

3. Waste of time
MOst people in the Blue states would not support secession. Here in NYC we couldn't even get enough support for the city to secede from NYS, and most upstaters would be happy to see us go.

As to aligning with Canada, they would never risk open war with the US in order to bring us in. More to the point, they most likely would see little profit in making slews of USers part of their own population. We're just too much of a problem.

ALl we can do is stay and fight. Me, I think we should work towards a new political party, or take over Perot's old Independence Party structure (it's just sitting there for the taking, as Fulani and the gang proved) and move on from there. WOrking inside the Demo's is like carrying a 200 lb corpse on your back; not only is it hard work, it makes you stink too.

6. Me feeling is that no one in this thread is seriously contemplating
actual secession. But the mere fact that it is being discussed gives one the idea of how serious the cultural divides are in the country.

10. Are you kidding? I'd do it in a heart beat
Remember we have the MAJORITY in the BLUE states..we could actually do this. What is the alternative? Wait until the Monarch disbands the republic?

Anyone know what Canadian Constitution is like....Bill of Rights?

I would MISS the Statue of Liberty
I would have to leave CO....Shall I move to Washington or Oregon?

11. I just can't conceive of how it could actually be done.
The geography makes no sense, the blue states would have no military. Just how would you propose attacking the U.S. military?
On top of that in all of the red states, 30 to 45% of the people are Democrats.

25. You miss the point, Grasshopper
Having nukes might provide the leverage by which a California secession could take place and stay permanent. Nukes would fulfill the role they have always fulfilled: keeping away potential agressors. DC would think twice about invading California to take it back.

Remember, we don't want war! IF OUR liberals want to join our new country they will have to move! WHY would you want to stay in a red state anyway....especially if you are gay?

7. As a Canuck - I can say
With much enthusiasm - WELCOME to our world. Canada may not want to risk war with the US in order to have you....BUT if you are determined to leave and want to join our confederation - then this citizen says - WELCOME!

Keep in mind that the US is as powerful as it is because in part of its economy....if California alone were to leave - that would be simply catastrophic to the remaining US......throw in NY and the north east - what would the US have left...really - their power would be split.

And also - do not underestimate the foreign powers that would help you retain your freedom.

12. Aw, thanks.
I'm in a red state myself, but if hell freezes over and the blue states join Canada, I'd skip over the border to Illinois in a heartbeat.

And if America's economy collapses...well, that's the price Bush voters have to pay. :)

13. This liberal would
have no trouble fighting a war for New American independence. If a blue state votes to break off from the union, I would be there as part of whatever army they raise in a heartbeat.

14. Me
As well the key stone state is a Commonwealth we can break off at any time.
the problem is fighting the enemy in our on backyards. do you think they will take it lightly if we leave the union.
find out who is loyal to you and go from there it has to be a very large and decisive one with lots of people. and I'm sure if we need help the French were there the last time.If its has come to it Give me liberty or give me death.

16. I think that if
a blue state with a small economy that doesn't really contribute anything to the rest of the nation in terms of money, food, jobs, or such wanted to go, the republicans would let them go. Unless public opinion turned against such a schism.

Now if California tried to do so, I would see a massive retaliation strike. They have a HUGE economy that contributes a lot to the rest of the nation.

even if one sate leaves the union it will show that others.
can like if pa left the union the southern sates would have to use our interstate highways to get to other states above us. witch could be taxed as trade. all the states above us are blue so even if one leaves the union it will be the shot heard round the world.
when difference of ideas and talking doesn't solve the problem the problem wont be solved there faith dictates that were wrong and if there faith is wrong then its not infallible. If we have the means leave them to there own way they won't change. if you agree with us then you have a place to come to.
just like the slaves they came to the north to escape slavery
we don't need them to live the way we want. In a free society so i say again in a way "give me the liberals or give me death".

18. California was the world's 5th leading economy when * stole the WH
No idea what it is now. His theft of 11 billion from the California companies via the power heist is what tanked the economy in the first place. We don't need anyone else but California to make a country.

I'd rather see us join Canada or make a country out of the west coast, upper midwest and New England.

Let the bigots have the south and midwest.

22. Bill Clinton to start negotiations with Paul Martin over the largest
political merger in the history of the world! how'd that be for a headline.

Jesusland would have little modern industry except parts of Texas and Florida. And the White House and Capital would belong to US! As for the military, we're getting our blood sucked out of us anyway.

Let's go!
