He's riffing on the "moral" angle right now! I needed that.

5. I talked to Garrison Keillor on the phone
my husband went to a fundraiser that GK was at and waited until most people were gone to get to shake his hand. He had called me so I could listen to what was going on and then asked GK if he would say hi to me. I was so embarrassed at first but he was so nice and seemed genuinely content to take a moment to say hi. I thanked him for all he was doing to help us and he said that he felt it was his duty. It took 30 seconds out of his life and made me feel like a million bucks.

8. Aw, nice story
It's great when celebrities take time for their fans. It means so much. They must surely get tired of it (after a while at least), which makes it all the better when they do take time. Keillor really impressed me by being so proactive in this election. Good on him!

9. He's not gonna let up either!
The new book "Home Grown Democrat"is excellent.
He MC'd a Minnesota Artists for Kerry a couple of weeks ago, and the St. Paul Edwards rally on Monday.

There's a little whining that his show is so political, but he's not going to be the Lutheran monkey. He's had it!

10. Keillor has been relentless on progressive issues.
A few years back, before things became as abysmal as they are now, he mentioned that in America, if you are wealthy, people cannot do enough for you. So true! Donated clothing, product endorsement, book contracts -- all given to those who earn more in a year than I could in my entire work life.

He also has been regularly skewering in the GOP and others (check out "We're All Republicans Now"), and had Tom Paxton on to sing "Shut Up and Drink Your Arsenic."

I'll bet the entire Bush and Cheney clans HATE the man. The more they do, the better he does his job.

Oh, and unlike the squatters at 1600 Pennsylvania and the Naval Observatory, Keillor has a brain, a heart and a moral compass. May he live long!

11. Kicking this
PHC was a breathe of fresh air yesterday - so much so that I listened again today. He makes the case without hysteria and with intelligence - all part of planting that seed.

Segment 9

We're All In This Thing Together" - Gillian Welch, David Rawlings and Old Crow Medicine Show

My dear friend I can see your face so clearly
Little bit tired a little warn from the years
You sound nervous you seem alone
Hardly recognize your voice on the telephone
In between I remember just before we wound up broken down
We drive out to the edge of the highway
Follow that lonesome deadend roadside sound

We're all in this thing together
Walking the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry, I'll taste the salt in your tears

Well my friend let's put this thing together
Walk the path warn our feet have trod
Cause if you want it we can go on for ever
Give up your jaded ways spill your name to God

We're all in this thing together
Walking the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry, I'll taste the salt in your tears

All we are is a picture in the mirror
The fancy shoes to grace our feet
All there is is a slow road to freedom
Heaven above and the devil beneath

We're all in this thing together
Walking the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry, I'll taste the salt in your tears
