1. Alan Cranston, ex-Sen. Colorado and Andrew Sullivan, (gay man no less
who blogs) and I say this with wonder as Bush is not for anything positive about gay and lesbian issues.

3. There was something so frantic about both of their performances.

These folks are the sorest "winners" I have ever seen. Yes, Cranston went of on Maher, he was as taken aback as I have ever seen him. Guilt. That is what I took away from the exchange You know how it is when someone tries to bait you so you will be as culpable as they are? That is what is looked like to me.

7. You can't mean Cranston.
He was California I believe. Was it Simpson, Perhaps?

18. I think it was Alan Simpson...
What I couldn't get over was how Simpson and Sullivan had the exact same attack message -- they both went after Maher for "making fun of religious people," which was over the top! He's a comedian -- and he makes fun of everyone.

But why were they so angry? They'd won. I couldn't help but think that far from Bill ensuring religious folks would never vote Democratic -- maybe they knew it was Maher who helped get the other 55 million voters out and against these extremists.

It was bizarre!!! They were livid. And Maher was totally perplexed by the attack.

5. Not Cranston, Alan Simpson
and this was a very interesting show. Simpson just absolutely was insulting and aggressive. This is going to be their tactic. They feel emboldened and need to be smacked down hard.

15. Simpson was often a nasty piece of work
in the past. But he does have a sense of humor. This is probably nothing new. You would think they could be somewhat gracious in victory.

6. Typical Wingnut Attitude: Persecution Complex
...at the same time they hold all the power and have an agenda to persecute everyone ELSE!

They're crazy....Sullivan looked like such a whining baby.

11. Yea, ole "bareback sex" Sullivan
is pretty oleaginous. I think he was pretty down on Bush because of the marriage thing before the election, but I've not had time to see much of my tape of the show--just a little bit before the "New Rules" section. I'll be interested to see the rest of it...

13. This was one of the better episodes. Definitely catch it. It was hot.
UNfortunately our side was repped by Pat Shroeder (nice lady - can't debate) and DL Hugheley. He is great but the wingnuts just screamed persecution all night. Maher handled it with class.

10. Andrew Sullivan is just like an African-Am Bush supporter.....
you have to wonder what they are thinking, but then I think a lot of them have a vicious case of Stockholm (Patty Hearst) Syndrome.

"The reason they are able to oppress me is because they are strong and I am weak. They must be right and I must be wrong. I will need to adapt their way of thinking to protect myself."

Argh. Meanwhile, old gay rights activists like Harry Hay are rolling over in their graves, as are Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, et.al.

12. And Sullivan said that he voted for Kerry?
It was funny how offended he got when Noam Chomsky called the bushbot a war criminal...

on the other hand, D.L. Hughley was great, declaring his decision to change from an Independant to 100% Democrat..!

:hi:

17. Was Sullivan fondling himself?
James Wolcott noticed it too:

The strangest thing in the broadcast happened when the show was over. The panelists stood, Sullivan's back to the camera, and as the credits rolled, he began squeezing, massaging his own buttocks with his hands. I thought he might be trying to dislodge a thong strap that had run up rather deep, but no, he seemed to be feeling up his own butt. I've never seen anything quite like it, unless I was hallucinating, and if I start hallucinating about Andrew Sullivan copping a feel of his own butt, it's time to check into the clinic for a little Elizabeth Wurtzel layoff.

So I beg any blogger able to do a "screen-grab," if you're pardon the expression, to study the last few minutes of this week's Real Time with Bill Maher and assure me my mind's not playing mad tricks.
