San Diego Republicans Freaking Out over Dem Write-in Mayor
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 02:18 PM by Jack_Dawson
The ONLY good thing about the election is seeing the San Diego conservatives (and there are many) freak out over a WRITE-IN DEMOCRATIC mayoral candidate coming out of nowhere to get more votes than the Republican incumbent and leading challenger.

From Rick Roberts www.760kfmb.com

"We were so busy saving the world, we took our eye off the ball locally."

They're still counting votes, and she's still leading. Hilarious.

1. RICK ROBERTS IS A PIECE OF SHIT SCUM
I will never forget that son of a whore talking trash about the Van Damms after their daughter had been kidnapped and slaughtered here in San Diego. Roberts calls his show "The Court of Public Opinion" but all he represents are the same right wing fuckers that Roger Hedgecock and Michael Savage appeal to.

We have to take these radio fuckers down somehow. They are purveyors of hate, lies and violence.

He has a 10 minute spot every morning on Channel 8 where he spits and spouts hateful limbaugh-like RW bullshit.

I HATE RICK ROBERTS!

5. SD County will be Blue within 10 years
It's the fastest growing county in California, and immigrants (who don't vote GOP) account for much of that growth.

Bush only carried this supposed GOP stronghold 52% to 47%.

I'm glad the local wingnuts are squealing. It means they see the writing on the wall.

8. I am so hoping she wins . . . and I wish RW Talk radio
would go away. I never listen, but I have friends who do and they adopt the same argumentative, contentious attitude when I try to talk to them.

9. I knew Donna would win

The pukes split their vote between the other two candidates, so, since SD has more registered Dems than pukes, barring fraud, I don't see how Donna could have lost.

I'm very surprised to hear that SD went for *. Two precincts voted at the polling site I watched, and in both precincts Kerry won in a landslide, with more than twice as many votes as the chimp.

However, I have heard that the optical scanning machines we used are also subject to fraud.

10. The RW talking head lineup on the website you posted is typical of what
is broadcast on AM radio in every corner of America.

America is really being deliberately brainwashed, and has been being brainwashed for a long time.

General strike and Boycott.

12. Now the puke "tort reform" gang is going to court

to try to stop Donna from becoming mayor.

Don't they realize their hypocritical tactics only serve to further convince us of what scum they are?

13. I just saw Donna on the news
She is a strong person. She really said it to those people trying to send this to court.

If it was not legal to have her on the ballot, they should have fought it before the election officials took her money, her petitions, and allowed it.

Ha, Ha! They just didn't think she would win.

Neener, neener, neener.

Go Donna, Go!!!

17. There are 2 codes.

One of them (county?) doesn't allow write-in candidates, but the other one, municipal, specifically does. Since mayor is a municipal position, I don't think they'll get anywhere.

What is that they tell us after they steal election after election? Stop whining. Accept it. "Tough titty," said the kitty, "but the milk's still good." Waaah frigging waaah.

20. Looks like the lead story on the local news will be about this
At least, if the stupid Scott Peterson trial isn't deemed more important.

They are going to talk about the lawsuit.

Stoooo-pid sore loser Republicans!!!

And, I just thought of this. What if Donna somehow thought there could have been election fraud and entering the race late as a write-in candidate was her way to ensure a correct counting of the votes for her.

If so, Go Donna, Go!!!

to their way of thinking.

Ron Roberts is trying to distance himself from the "friend" of his who filed the lawsuit.

24. It was the lead story with demonstrators yelling
"Count our votes, count our votes, count our votes."

She leads by less than 1%.

She has a "firey reaction."

The lawsuit supposedly says it is illegal to have write-in candidates in General Elections.

She says, "It has nothing to do with the legality of my candidacy. It has to do with the fact that I will be the next mayor of San Diego."

Then everybody cheered!!

28. Thanks . . . I just gave the story a "5"
Quote from the article:

"Not content to allow democracy to work, they are resorting to after-the-fact, desperate tactics to thwart the will of the voters of San Diego," she said.

If their lawsuit wins, you can bet her supporters will file one of their own. Maybe we'll get a new election, if that happens.

But I hope the lawfuit gets thrown out.

This is Steve Breen's cartoon today.

The two candidates leading in the count are Dick Murphy and Donna Frye.
