Is the Fallujah story a distraction for the potential vote fraud story?
If everyone's attention wasn't on Fallujah right now, would reporters be looking more closely at the individual stories about voting irregularities going on?

It seems ironic that when Clinton used military action in Kosovo, his critics cried "Wag the Dog" because it was a means of distracting from the emerging Monica Lewinsky scandal.

If it turns out there is a lot of fraud, it will be intereting to see if the press is as vociferous in their WTD claims with Bush as they were with Clinton.

1. Unfortunately, I don't think so ...
The troops were stationed at Fallujah waiting to start the massacre before the election. Bush is just now emboldened enough to turn them loose.

5. Think about what you just said for a second...

Suppose, just suppose, that the govt. knew their might be stories floating around about voter fraud....because they knew that it was going to happen in advance. So there would have to be something in the back pocket to pull out right away to distract everyone from the emerging vote fraud controversy. Very tinfoil hat territory.

I'm not saying that the government knew the fix was in...

Our government could never do anything like that, could they?

edit: spelling error

6. I see where you're coming from, but ...
Bush has wanted to flatten Fallujah for nearly a year, and was just waiting for November 4th to say 'go.

Either he would be re-elected & have more power, or he'd be lame duck and who gives a fuck what he does ?. Either way, he had to wait until after the general election to flip the switch.

7. exactly. This was set up before the election BECAUSE
they knew they would need a nice big, HUGE distraction AFTER the election.

You make an excellent point, exGOPer.

These people do nothing by accident, and they do nothing for anything other than political reasons.

Damn.

9. I'm not saying that this was a deliberate plan...
I'm just saying that there are a lot of things that on the surface look unrelated might not actually be unrelated.

I normally am not a tinfoil hat guy, but this has a lot of potential.

8. I have to agree with you
The military has been chomping at the bit to flatten Fallujah. Assuming it's gonna be messy (which I hope it won't be for the sake of our boys over there), I don't think this administration could've risked it being used against them during their campaign.

11. Your conclusion presupposes that it wasn't all planned in
advance, which is what the questioner is getting at methinks. - K

13. I know what he/she was getting at ...
... but I see it from a different perspective, not that Fallujah was meant to be a 'distraction' from the election fraud, but that regardless of what happened on Nov 3rd, Bush would still be in office on Nov 4th and be able to flatten Fallujah with impugnity, whereas if he let the troops loose prior to the election, there may have been an international outcry and video footage of the bloodbath ...

10. The louder we the independent self thinking minority get the
more noise will come out of Washington. if we become to much of a threat along with the 911 truth group the more chance of another major event happening on our soil, giving the government an excuse to clamp down on dissent.
