Why knock Conyers? He was very impressive.
He pointed out Democrats simply want the votes to be counted accurately when we hold elections. He is well aware the counting in Ohio is not yet finished and there is plenty of time to ask for corrective action if necessary. Jumping up and down and screaming fraud gains us right now. We need to continue to accumulate evidence and push at the appropriate moment.

2. Conyers is always on the front lines of these things.
Remember that he was one of the members of Congress Michael Moore interviewed in "Fahrenheit 9/11." I remember him speaking at a civil rights demonstration at the Department of Justice (I think it was September 2002). He is a good spokesman, although I cringed when he called the GAO the "General Accountability Office." Maybe it was just a Freudian slip!

4. the less partisan it is the better

Our freedom, our democracy and our very lives are at stake. It isn't about Kerry or about the Democratic party. We don't need to scream or yell, we don't need to make accusations or charges, and we don't need to organize and do public relations.

This story screams all by itself and it publicizes itself. We just need more and more people to be firmly but calmly asking the questions and passing it along. Just keep talking.

5. how effective is this going to be?
Who is going to get excited about an intellectual exercise to determine if some votes were miscounted if it isn't going to influence the election.

If he wants to get the people behind this, and make the media notice, and get some heat to this story, he has to do better than that, in my opinion.

I don't doubt his intent, I just don't think this story is going anywhere with such a milqtoast attitude from our representatives.
