He is still a junior senator. These positions go to senior senators.

6. Caucus vote
The Democratic Caucus (45 Senators now) votes next week by secret ballot. Whoever gets a majority of the votes wins.

8. ...
Because...

1. To 50% of America, he's the most liberal member of the Senate. That might not sound bad to us, but to the heartland...

2. He lost (possible fraud aside). No one, at least in the media, likes a loser. Do we want the media to be taking about the so-callled "landslide" every time our party opposes Bush?

10. Why Do We Want That?
I want him to be on all the Sunday talk shows. Why isn't Al GORE on all the circuses? Why is Dob bole on all the shows? Why is LIEBERMAN on all the circuses?

12. Perhaps he doesn't want the position
He hasn't shown any interest by runiing for a leadership position in the Senate before.

13. Because his fellow Dems wouldn't choose him...
He has never been a political operative type.

Harry Reid has run the floor operations for Daschle, & is the best qualified.

Chris Dodd decided not to challenge him, because Reid had the votes.

14. He wouldnt take that job
I am sure he wants the freedom to say what he wants instead of being a deal maker. Sort of what Ted Kennedy did after he lost to Carter in the 1980 primary.
