They'd be fighting for a twisted version of Christianity, Imperialism, Corporatism, Greed, Paternalism, Conservatism, The Rich over the Rest, the Banks, Capitalism Uber Alles, No Labor Protection, Monopolies, Serfdom, Anti-Environmentalism, Corporate Healthcare for many but not all, No Safety Net, Plutocracy, Inequitable Beginnings and Inequitable Ends, etcetera.

We'd be fighting for...Brass tacks:

Fill in the blanks, I'm interested in seeing how far y'all have worked this out.

4. The Constitution created many of the problems that we're having today.
Shall we aim a tad higher than late 19th Century thought, no matter how well it appears to have worked?

10. I didn't say that now, did I?
I simply questioned the unerring wisdom of 2 centuries ago.

Nothing's perfect.

2. the same thing we fought for the first time....
a government of, by and for the people. I have ABSOLUTE faith in the American people to make the right choice when they have good information. We will be able to get good information when we get the vote.........and face it....black boxes have disenfranchised all of us.

6. Recall that the 1st time didn't include large segment of the population.
No need to point those inequities out now, is there?

But if that's all we're capable of then I guess it'll have to do.

There is no "they" when people are pressed to choose between gluttonous self-interested pursuits or basic liberty.

Those who have been deceived by their government to the point where they will take up arms against their brothers, are few and far between. How many militia-members and neo-nazis do you come across in your daily travels?

However, the group of individuals who understand that this government is only serving to perpetuate conflict and bloodshed while destroying the morale of its own citizens, is growing on a daily basis. If the awakening proceeds, Americans will reach a collective breaking-point where they quickly realize their interests are no longer being served by their leadership.

I believe that any upcoming "Civil War" would essentially be between the American citizens and their own corrupt government.

what is the matter with you?

this crazy fundamentalist madness is not freedom. it is twisted. if they were truly a majority we would have to live with it. but they are not. and we do not.

18. ok
Sorry. I am so tired and have been saying the same thing over and over again to so many people and so many places.

Here is what I believe we are fighting for. I hope that you don't think of these patrotic sentiments as platitudes.

"We are obliged at this time to struggle, with all the Powers with which the Constitution hath furnished us, in Defence of our Rights; to prevent the most valuable of our Liberties from being wrested from us, by the subtle Machinations, and daring Encroachments of wicked Ministers."

"In this little Part of the World - a Land, till of late happy in its Obscurity - the Asylum, to which Patriots were formerly wont to make their peaceful Retreat; even here the stern Tyrant has lifted up his iron Rod, and makes his incessant Claim as Lord of the Soil: But I have a firm Perswasion in my Mind, that in every Struggle, this Country will approve her self, as glorious in defending & maintaining her Freedom, as she has heretofore been happy in enjoying it."

17. In a word: "feminism"
Behind the puke rhetoric is a determined effort to destroy feminism,
in its broader interpretation, not just women, but all things that
relate to feminine, weakness, old-age, child poverty, poverty,
economic plurality, living-at-one-with-the-earth, arts, sexuality
and disenfranchisement.

This civil war is basically patriarchy against matriarchy memes,
and does not get any simpler when broken in to other terms... however
the battle ground is deeply substantive, and as worth fighting for
as abolition of the slaves was.

Unfortunately, this civil war has gone global, due to the massive
interconnection of the planet... and there are no longer any
frontiers to hide behind. Bush supporters are all over the place
like cockroaches, and the only way to destroy them, is either a
systematic campaign of assassination of lieutenants, or a containment
strategy that bankrupts them. It strikes me the latter is most
effective, as it merely uses the WMD's of neoliberal captalism,
"credit worthiness", that when they are downgraded, they will not
have the credit to take the war further.

19. Sometimes it is what you are fighting against.
Tyranny in the Revolution, slavery in the Civil War, fascism in WWII. Fortunately we now have the opportunity to oppose all three in one fell swoop.

Me personally? I'm anti-authority. Anybody in power should be subject to heavy scrutiny, even(or maybe especially)those I generally agree with.
