Democracy is not dead.

We have all seen the posts on the five steps of working through grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. We all have reason to grieve the "loss" of this election. We have reason to grieve for Democracy. But we must be careful to not accept the wrong conclusion at the end of our grief process. Democracy is not dead.

Democracy is a rape victim. She lies, bruised, battered and bleeding, clinging to life in the ICU.

WE can save Democracy.

WE are her doctors, nurses, medical techinicians. Will we turn our backs on her and call the undertaker, or will we do our job to save her?

Democracy has many wounds, but her most grievous and life threatening is BBV. We must stop the hemorhaging of voting theft before anything else.

WE are the police who can catch Democracy's assailants if we work hard, look in all the dark allies, and pursue every lead. Will we let the perps who did this to Democracy go free?

WE are Democracy's family and friends. We can give her transfusions of hope. We can keep her doctors and protectors on the job. Will we abandon her without all our efforts?

WE are Democracy's pulse. So long as we continue to beat, Democracy continues to live.

Later, WE must be Democracy's therapist, her support group. We can help her with the fear and self-recriminations that face an assault victim. WE can help Democracy heal and grow strong and vital again.

Democracy is not dead. Will you do all you can to help her or abandon her to fate?

Kerry was supposed to be that leader, but where has he gone?
Where is the Democratic Pary leadership?
Everyone who was in a leadership role has vanished into the woodwork.
We need someone who can formulate a plan to keep her alive.

our radio to the hospital was out, would we give up? Or would we do everything we could to keep Democracy alive until we can get her to the specialists?

I don't believe in being unrealistically optimistic, but I also don't believe that pessimism is equivalent to realism.
