Lynne Cheney's Peculiar History
Just watched a bit of the Today Show with Matt Lauer hand-jobbing Lynne Cheney, and was startled to see that she badly garbled a famous incident in george Washington's illustrious life.

According to the hypocritical shrew, during the Revolution General Washington rode his horse where the troops were shooting at the enemy, which as she put it "fired up the troops and made them realize the war could be won."

Leaving aside the burning question of how this in any way fired up anybody as this idiot told the tale....

The incident happened in the French and Indian War, not the Revolution.

The troops were NOT firing at an enemy. Two American companies of militia had come to face each other due to irregular terrain, and each thought the other was the enemy and had begun firing. Only Washington realized what had happened and bravely rode between them to stop the firing, at great risk to himself.

It DID fire up tremendous personal loyalty to Washington among American fighting men....but it did nothing to inspire Americans to fight harder in the French and Indian War....in fact, if anything, it underscored what a clusterfuck that conflict was and how much the colonists were being used as pawns by their British rulers.

And that's the woman who tries to be in charge of history textbooks? Uh-HUH.

1. interesting
One should always know when to not opens one's mouth, due to one's foot getting stuck in it.

I got really annoyed with her when she got holier-than-thou about Kerry talking about her daughter. I thought, she's not even going to try to be gracious on this. It made me feel like she was just waiting to pounce on anything he said and she found her one opening.

Go MrBenchley. Nice catch :)

2. You'll notice that Lauer didn't ask
about the 11 states that passed bigotry resolutions...nor about Karl Rove's blather about revving up the Hate Amendment again...

3. She has been fucking up history for decades
She led the ban on the national standards for history documents that dared to include the stories of women and minority groups. So mush for the dems--the ban passed 99-0.
