Religious Flip/Flop
After watching a CNN special on daily life in Saudi Arabia over the weekend, I thought it was ironic that the Bush administration is supporting the secularization of arab countries while at the same time claiming a moral mandate for pro-christian beliefs in daily political affairs in this country.

I think that's the most ironic flip/flop there is.

Look, i'm agnostic. I don't know if there is or isn't a god. What I do know is that if there is, no one religion has it completely right/wrong. I've always viewed religion as a crutch for those who can't think for themselves, but even if there is a god, it's like different religions are looking at the same abstract piece of art and coming away with different impressions. One religion might see this, one might see something else, but nobody has it 100% right.

I guess the Bush administration really is anti-islam. Pro-christian, and anti-islamic at the same time. It's no wonder all of islam hates us and wants us dead.

1. They do not recognize Islam as a legitimate religion
The Islams are all eveil, unless they are Saudi royal family members. Then they are ok. Oh, I guess I shouldn't forget the Emir of Kuwait. The fact is that there are millions of people who follow the Islamic faith throughout the world, and according to Falwell, Robertson, and yes bush himself, they aren't really legitimate. I actually have a "Chtistian" (fundy) neighbor who was telling me this recently. I also wouldn't really classify the bush administration as Pro-Christian either. Just their version of Christianity.

evangelical, "bible-believin'" ones. Do you have any idea how many of us cannot cram ourselves into that tiny little pigeon hole?

3. YupYup
These born again peeps are crazy. I'm going to hog tie each of my neighbors down and force them to watch "Saved!" this weekend.

That is, if they don't prevent me from picking up my medications at the pharmacy.

I guess we really are all just godless heathens in their eyes. Even James Watt, under the Reagan administration, when asked about preserving wildlife for future generations, replied (and i'm paraphrasing), "Well, I don't know how many more generations there will be before the end times (revelations) comes..."

You know, there is such a thing as self-fulfilling prophecy.
