We have some of the worst Freepers right here in the Northeast and appreciate the number of vocal liberals who come from "red states."

Know a lot of great people, democrats of coarse but there are a lot of RW nuts, yes some of them are indeed toothless trailer freaks but many look like normal people also (until they start talking).. My county went over 80% Bush...that's how bad it is where I live. Still even here there are a lot of great democrats fighting back all they can..

3. I live in a "red" county in MN. Hope to turn it blue, but you probably had
the same number of Bush voters as we did. Like 60 pct. People seem to forget that even at county level voters were close to evenly divided. In reality they are buying into the repug talking points in my opinion. Take it for what it is...a divided COUNTRY!

Just like they aren't REALLY bashing all Christians and other religious people when they say things like, "Fuck the Christians" and "Religion is for weak-minded people".

When they say "Fuck the South," they aren't REALLY bashing you, you're just doubly wrong for being from the South, and then feeling like you're being bashed on top of it.

There are times I think that we're little more than a mirror image of the Freepers.

13. Come on. We've got to learn to let things roll off our back sometimes.
People are just venting their anger. Being from a red state, we have to take it just like our whole country has to take the anger directed at it because of the war.

Sometimes, it bothers me too. But, some of us down here really do deserve it. We gotta work to change that.

We will never change anything if we contribute to the infighting.

14. I agree to a certen extend
Lets face it, people are people basically. We all strive for the same things. And when I bash the south I’m referring to them figuratively and not the physical south. I mean there are many states that I boycott; Florida and Texas are the top 2. But what my main concern is the religious right wherever they might reside. They are the once who will destroy this country.

Maybe I was casting too large of a net when I condemned the South. I really meant the religious south. I have friends in the "South" and they are nice people. But lets get something strait. There is absolutely nothing and I cannot over stress the word NOTHING that the south could ever contribute to the USA.
If I need cheep labor I can go abroad.
If I need food I can go to California or any blue state for that matter.
If I need to see some asshole dressed as a mouse again I can go to Cali. Or go over my uncle Vini’s house when he gets drunks lol don’t ask lol.
If I need the latest technology then its blue again, and I don’t mean IBM.
Lets face if, all the south really contributes to this great land is evangelical preachers. And as soon as we can figure out how to offshore then you are really fucked lol.

Well I believe I know why Texas USED to vote democratic. Its because any Texan with any usable skill moved up north to get a job. And the only Texans left are economic refuges with the exception of maybe Austin. But hopefully there will be a brain drain there as well. However, all of said is not meant to be an attack toward individual in this group. Its more meant towards the religious right that I believe will destroy this country.

38. What we have here is a failure to communicate
There is no pulling together. Your state like Florida is gone. Adios. It’s solidly in the red column. I hate to sound alarmist, but there is 2 Americas. And you have to decide in which one you want to live in. There is no middle ground here. There is no gray area. Idiots like Zell Miller like to go around regurgitating the same shit that "He didn’t leave the Democratic party" or something like that. But you and shit heads like Zell, miss that the rest or the world is going to the future and the south wants to live in 1951. And there is no compromise in that. So the choice is yours my friend. Life in the past or move to the future. And as far as making friends with other progressives goes. Well that has been the problem with us democrats for way too long. We are too dam nice and accepting. I say we start to flex our muscles and start pissing on others. We need a paradigm shift and I say it starts with weeding the meek among us.

40. In a way you a correct
Hypothetically lets say we all move to one state. Well now you have, lets say 150 million people living in one state. Then we are really fucked if we only get the same number of electoral votes that are allotted to that particular state. Even if that state is California, we would still loose. So I guess you are right that more of us need to move there. Because the way the system is currently set up and the way population is shifting further west bound. You will have the few making decisions for the many.

The South has contributed nothing, you say?

Mississippians:
Jimmy Buffett, Van Cliburn, Hodding Carter III, William Falkner, Tennesee Williams, Bret Favre, Medgar Evers, Louise Fletcher, John Grisham, Jim Henson, blues pioneer Robert Johnson, B.B. King, James Earl Jones, Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, Elvis Presley, Leontyne Price, Ray Walston, Eudora Welty, Oprah Winfrey.

Alabamians:
Hank Aaron, Harper Lee, Helen Keller, Jesse Owens, Habitat for Humanity founder Millard Fuller, W.C. Handy, Willie Mays, Coretta Scott King, Joe Louis, Jim Nabors, Lionel Hampton, Rosa Parks, Tallulah Bankhead.

And that's just a few folks from just two states.

52. Oh, what horseshit
When was the last time an auto manufacturing plant was built in the United States someplace other than the South?

Two of the largest ports in the United States are in New Orleans and Houston.

The space industry would be non-existent with the Johnson Space Center in Houston, the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville and the Cape in Florida.

One of the largest shipbuilding operations in the world is in Mississippi. Another is in Virginia.

Birmingham has a top-flight medical center and transplant program that draws patients from around the world.

Florida is a major agricultural producer.

Etc., etc.

53. Horseshit? Ok you want war?
First, the only reasons anyone builds auto plans in the south is because of the huge tax breaks they give these companies and the relatively cheap labor because most of these auto plans bar unions.

Second, just because you launch the rockets in shit kicker land, doesn’t mean they are engineered there, Ever heard of JPL Einstein?

Thirdly, ports are so automated these days that I have no idea what that claim to fame means. Other that we have a huge trade surplus with other countries; it facilities them bringing even more stuff over.

Fourthly, I’m not an expert on this, but I would care to bet that the top medical research center are in NE or California and not in bum fuck Birmingham.

If I cared enough I would google stats for the NE and West coast but I’m comfortable in my conclusion that there is no innovation in red states.

is winning as our party turns on it's own. This strategy has worked for centuries and it's working very effectively now.

"divide et impera", which translates to "divide and rule".

Effective use of this technique allows those with little real power to control those who collectively have a lot of power.

19. Well I am in Texas....
and if you said that to my face I would whoop yer ass... *grin

Seriously, Austin (Travis county) was one of a few blue counties here in Texas. We supported Kerry by almost 20 percentage points over Bush. There are a whole lot of redneck, toothless, walmart shopping morons here in this state to be sure... but like all red states there are some pretty cool and progressive folks here as well.

Remember Texas used to be Blue as did many other southern states. My grandmother, who died last year at the age of 98, was a life long democrat. There are many like her here and in other places.

In the past those states were blue because of Civil Rights and Labor Laws. They will be blue again when they need health care, are sick of loosing jobs or businesses to walmat, or generally find their basic ability to survive and provide for their family threatened.

Figure out how to leverage those points and the south will be blue again.

My red state is partially Southern, partially Midwestern. My city (STL) went 81% for Kerry. The state went 54% Shrub.

This black/white red/blue is idiotic.

That being said, I'll take you up on your challenge

Fuck the Rectangular States! (except the 35% Kerry voters)

While I'm at it:

Fuck the Blue States! (except the 55% Kerry voters)

Fuck the Midwest! (except the 40-something percent Kerry voters)

Fuck the Northwest Coast! (no good reason, but I'm from Seattle so I say I have license)

Fuck California (as long Arnold is gov.)

48. Not bashing, just asking for the Red States to pay their share
Why should I be paying 90% and get stuck with bush too?? As a blue voter in a Red state, I dont understand why you wouldn't want to educate bush voters about that.

We are told now, that this election was about "morality" Odd, since the Red States lead in divorces & teen pregnancies.

Bashing? Like: "Those elitist liberals from Massachuettes"?? Come on, give me a break. Who's been bashing whom?

I see nothing wrong in pointing out the facts. They want bush? fine, then it's time for them to pay their fair share. What's wrong with that?? Seems perfectly fair to me.

If liberals dont correct the erroneus perceptions people have of them, we are doomed. So I don't think we should roll over & let this slide anymore. To the Red States: "Pay up or Shut up" I'm tired of this crap.
