Atrios & Dailykos- Wingnut "modestly proposes" expulsion of Blue States.

Declaration of Expulsion: A Modest Proposal
It's Time to Reconfigure the United States
by Mike Thompson
Posted Nov 3, 2004

"That is why the unthinkable must become thinkable. If the so-called "Red States" (those that voted for George W. Bush) cannot be respected or at least tolerated by the "Blue States" (those that voted for Al Gore and John Kerry), then the most disparate of them must live apart--not by secession of the former (a majority), but by expulsion of the latter. Here is how to do it.

Having been amended only 17 times since 10 vital amendments (the Bill of Rights) were added at the republic's inception, the U.S. Constitution is not easily changed, primarily because so many states (75%, now 38 of 50) must agree. Yet, there are 38 states today that may be inclined to adopt, let us call it, a "Declaration of Expulsion," that is, a specific constitutional amendment to kick out the systemically troublesome states and those trending rapidly toward anti-American, if not outright subversive, behavior.

The 12 states that must go: California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, and Delaware. Only the remaining 38 states would retain the name, "United States of America." The 12 expelled mobs could call themselves the "Dirty Dozen," or individually keep their identity and go their separate ways, probably straight to Hell."

Mr. Thompson? Please view this map.

The Blue states are those whose tax revenue to the Federal government exceed the Federal funds poured back into the state. In other words, they pay more than they get back.

The Red states are those who take more in Federal funding than they put back in. In other words, these are DEADBEAT states living off the government teat.

The big fucking hole in your logic, Mr. Thompson, is that by expelling the "Dirty Dozen," you will eviscerate the tax base of what's left of your neoconservative utopia. 11 of the 12 states you propose to throw away are supporting most of the 38 states you hold dear to your heart.

-MR

One would think that Washington and Oregon would be just as decadent and sin-ridden as Rhode Island. I don't know why they escaped his axe.

Same thing goes for other reliably Democratic states in the northern Midwest: Minnesota & Michigan. And how about Pennsylvania? Why are they welcome?

all these years.

It was quoted in the Bible that there would be those who would use him as a "false profit"..guess who?

But that map looks good..."The United States of Canada".

I wonder what Canada would have to say about this?

EDIT~I just saw my freudian slip here with "false profit"..I meant to say prophet..but they both will do.

80. Canada has some fantastic farmland
And those people in Jesusland have to eat, so they'll sell to us--at a good price too! If not, we'll do what we have been doing forever and a day--buying from Mexico and South America. While we are at it, we can resume relations with Cuba, buy our sugar and tropical fruits from them, and cut all of the US sugar producers' nuts right off--the price supports on that commodity are absurd.

Jesusland would last five minutes without the economic support from the FIFTH LARGEST ECONOMY IN THE WORLD--the People's Republic of California. To say nothing of the world's financial center, New York City. And anyone wanting a decent education would have to venture into Blue Nation for an Ivy League degree...that creationism shit you get at Bob Jones U isn't going to make you a better businessman, doctor, or lawyer.

I say let them go--they drag us down. America is no longer beautiful with those hatemongers, anyway.

137. Yes, I'm horribly upset about that, too...
I mean, we have every right to be free of Bushland as California does. At least we don't have a cyborg as governor.

Fellow citizens of Washington and Oregon, make your voices heard. Demand to be expelled as well! Let's all e-mail that poster, including interesting photos of the Seattle or Portland Gay Pride Parades, or the Fremont Solstice Celebration. We can be just as decadent and anti-moral-values as those twelve states, damn it!!!

28. Now, since the United States was invented by people from
blue states for the most part (Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvannia, etc. . . hell, we'll even include Illinois since Abe Lincoln saved the US from ignorant fools like Mr. Thompson), we will retain the title of the United States, since we choose to remain uniteed and he chooses to be an imbecile. I believe an appropriate title for the remaining purple states (since there aren't any real "red" states) would be The Mindless States of Confusion.

Works for me, and all those blue-minded people inn the Mindless States are welcome to migrate north before the Mindless States collaps inward on each other after losing our tax revenue.

Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 05:10 PM by jobycom
This is the first thing a Freeper has said that I like. Let's put California, New England and the rust belt in one country and watch the other 38 or so states founder into nothingness, then beg us to come back as their fascist policies, idiotic economic strategies, and complete lack of commerce and industry destroy them.

Hell, they can keep the name and the flag, both are tarnished, tattered, bloodied and despised throughout the world now, thanks to them. We could come up with a cooler name, anyway. Like, the Democratic States of North America, or the More Intelligent States of America, or just the States Who Despise the Murdering Traitor in the White House of America.

Or maybe just Fred, I don't care, let's cut those suckers lose. Of course, I'd have to leave my beloved Texas... Wow, that would hurt, having to make new friends who could read and stuff.

"divide et impera", which translates to "divide and rule".

Yes, pleasepleasepleasepleasePLEASE expel us!!

We get to keep the most beautiful coastlines on both sides of the continent, the best skiing, the ONLY world-class surfing, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, San Fran-gay-mecca-ciso, Silicon Valley, super-rich farmland (WE never had a dust bowl!), the lion's share of the high-tech brain pool, the entire aerospace industry, most of the nation's sugar supply, all the biggest seaports, a huge Navy with plenty of ships and submarines already here, the best ethnic food, the finest wines outside France, Catalina Island, the Farallons, all the best lighthouses, the biggest telescopes, Yosemite, the best dance clubs, both power-centers of the entertainment industry, both the NYSE and NASDAQ, 78% of the queers, most of the best universities and medical centers, the highest mountain in the Lower 48, more than half of Lake Tahoe, almost all of Death Valley, the Yankees, the Giants, the A's, the Angels, the 49ers, the Raiders, all the gold in California, all the best skylines and city views, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and maybe even Disneyland (unless they want to annex Orange County, which is debatable). And while I'll miss Nevada, we've already got Atlantic City, river gambling on the Mississippi, and tribal gaming in California.

And Gray's Papaya! Can't forget Gray's Papaya!

Also, California will no longer be forking out more money to the fed than it receives, and no longer will our electoral votes count for 1/4 the "value" of Wyoming's.

Yes, life will be good in the United States of the Free! All we need is to decide how high the tariffs are going to be on goods imported from the Red States -- and we need somebody to sew the blue flag.

By the way, who gets Guam?

Aren't 10 of the states on his list the original base of the United states? The ones that founded the country? The ones that signed the Declaration of Independence? Surely they would get to keep the constitution and the name USA. "Don't tread on me", remember?

The rest can become Jaysusland.

Also, if New York is kicked out, doesn't that mean that AL Qaeda didn't attack the remaining states (the RSA, or Red States of America)? They attacked the blue, and the war on terror is now officially none of their business?
