Reading this site puts me on an emotional rollercoaster
I've been mainly lurking here for 4 years... and for the past 4 years, I've gotten my hopes up so many times, thinking that Bush's lies would be exposed and he'd be impeached or worse. Many DU members have a way of painting this pretty picture of all of Bush's wrongdoings catching up to him, at which point we will go back to pre-2000 life. But each time, I watched on as Bush got away with lie after lie, and crime after crime.

Now, I'm reading posts about how the latest election fraud/machine fraud situation is about to be blow up in * & the Republicans' faces. And that Kerry might even end up being inaugurated come January. But let's face it, the only guy who has even touched this story is Keith Olbermann. The rest of the media won't touch it with a 10 ft pole.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! * is invincible, the past 4 years have shown that. What we must do now is quit with the pipe dreams, and come up with strategies to ensure that this never happens again. We have a lot of voting reform to do. This is what we should focus on now. I don't want to keep getting my hopes up only to be let down.

2. Invincible?
The GOP would be happy to hear those words...

How will we reform voting if we don't investigate the problems within the system. Give up? NEVAH.

3. We all feel used and abused too!
The key word in you post is hope! Without that, the battle is over!

6. That's why I don't get my hopes up anymore
Like you too many times it's come crashing down in disappointment. I can still be hopeful without letting my hopes get up there. Perseverance and determination though, that's what keeps me going.

7. Hell, Life is an emotional roller coaster. but
it isn't really going to help things to urge people to join you when you're in a trough.

I think you need to EITHER do, and recommend that others do, things that handle your emotional states, OR resolve yourself to doing what is right even if it doesn't always feel good.

Too many people are looking for an emotional comfort zone, and that is skewing their vision. They argue for what they hope will make them feel better rather than for what they believe in.

The integrity of the Democratic process is not just another issue, and we had better hope not just another losing cause because the results of losing this one will make every other concern look pretty petty and self-indulgent by comparison.

Please read "Do We Still Have a Democracy?" by Ernest Partridge before making up your mind. Anyone who reads this article, and then STILL tries to argue against a full investigation, or argue for moving on, had better have a good explanation.

"We are obliged at this time to struggle, with all the Powers with which the Constitution hath furnished us, in Defence of our Rights; to prevent the most valuable of our Liberties from being wrested from us, by the subtle Machinations, and daring Encroachments of wicked Ministers."

- Sam Adams 1771

9. I say Keep on Dreaming - I LOVE THIS SITE !!!!
How can we create election reform. The people in power won't let that happen. They are the ones who wouldn't demand electronic voting with receipts !! We've got to stop them this way - spreading the truth now !!!!

I say let's keep on dreaming. This is my first post. I was in a dream state of euphoria in DC that afternoon last week - Walked by the Washington monument and stopped. It was a perfect day. Saw the exits, saw Zogby. Things would turn around -- maybe less war, maybe poor kids with insurance now. Now there was hope.

And then the despondency. Never felt like that before. Even after 9-11. Until I found this site. Hopeful, intelligent, funny people

Everyone...Thank you for keeping me from crying my eyes out !!!

11. The hope you feel now
I've been feeling for the past 4 years (thanks to this site). The thing is: BUSH was NOT supposed to get re-selected. Do I have to go on hoping for the next 4 years?

Excuse my rant, maybe last Tuesday's events are just now getting to me. I'm in the depressed stage. Ignore me and my pity party.

13. Welcome to DU!
Great first post, welcome! :hi:

I have such a deep appreciation for people like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony this week. If they could fight so long and so hard for what they believed in - so can I.
