Can a Du'er confirm this?
An openly lesbian, Hispanic Democrat, has been elected sheriff in Dallas Texas?

Lupe Valdez, the daughter of a Mexican immigrant farm worker, became the first ever Democrat and woman to head the county's sole law enforcement office, which includes Texas' second largest city.

3. Confirmed. It happened, and some of the 'pukes are fit to be tied.
To paraphrase, "we had our eye elsewhere and look what snuck in the back door."

12. Yes, it was mentioned on the conference call during DFA meet-up.
Some people from there called Dean on his cell-phone during the conference call to tell him. Then he told the meet-ups about it.

13. And in NC--an openly gay State Legislator (State Senate) was elected.
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 01:45 AM by Lex
.
Her name is Julia Boseman. And she WON against a nasty mean-spirited homophobic republican opponent.

And she wasn't in exactly the most liberal part of NC either.
