Operation Blue Christmas
To those of us who care about where our country is going, we have the
power to severely hurt the corporate machine that backed Bush. This winter
the corporate giants can experience a BLUE CHRISTMAS without you, if we
avoid buying
gifts from corporate giants that will profit from Bush-induced misery (which
is most retailers, who will feed off the demand for low-paying work caused
by Bush's policies). Instead, use the money and save it for yourself and
your family- you are going to need it, or give it to a progressive charity
in the name of a friend or loved one. If you must buy a gift, consider
second hand. It's high time we get back to the virtue of thrift in this
country. It is only through resistance that
we can bring the system down.

When the British oppressed India, Ghandhi went to the sea to make his own
salt instead of feeding the British thugs. You can do the same- don't feed
the machine.

Easy for me, having no money to spend and nobody to spend it on ;) So, they won't get what I don't have! No sir!

7. Me too. I will make candy and that is it. Reason?
I am waiting to see how much they go up on my health ins. The Gap is a small help with Medicare but they say it will go sky high so I wait. I am betting it will be just over the COLA I get.

4. Alot of people have decided to do this....
And they are also not buying turkeys this t-day. I don't eat turkeys or any living creature so I don't have to worry about not buying a turkey. If I was you all I would buy chinese takeout for thanksgiving or your favorite ethnic food. Let's show how thankful we are that Bush is back in the house again.

6. This will be the third year
that my family has been celebrating a non-commercial Christmas. The joy of sharing gifts that are the creations of our hearts and hands are the only ones allowed. I can only speak from personal experience, but I don't think you could find a better way to build the bonds of the family.

In general, I've become an extreme non-consumer all year. I don't buy prepared foods. I don't buy clothes because they're fashionable. I don't pay anyone to do something I could do myself.

I may have the luxury of unemployment to enable me to practice these concepts, but I expect that many more will be blessed with this luxury in the years to come.
