How many post do we need before
the FBI starts a file on us? I'm a child of the Vietman era and the FBI had files on EVERYONE. Seems like this FBI is worse. Do you think it has begun?

3. request an FOI on yourself
My grandmother did once (she was very active in anti-war activities in the 1960s and anti-nuke in the '70s and '80s), she found out some fascinating things that she supposedly did. She said she wished her life had been that interesting. Of note, she apparently had an affair with an anarchist in her youth. The problem with that story was that she was only 5 when he had died.

5. An FOI only works
if it is a closed invertigation. I have a friend who has requested FOI on herself & was finally told by a lawyer that they will only comply if it is a closed investigation. If it is an ongoing investigation, they don't comply.

:hippie:

6. You're right, although
one should not over-estimate the intelligence and yield of those bureaus... I am still thinking about getting at least a minimum of anonymity protection. This will never be air tight of course, but a minimal protective measure. Finditnot.com, anon.de, and the like...

10. Can you tell us more about that?
I know this kind of BS goes on, but I specifically ask because I had a very wierd "burglery" last year that made some of my friends suspicious. Nothing was stolen, even though my laptop, camera, etc. were sitting out. And this person ripped my burgler alarm and keypad right off the wall.

12. Yes I sure can
I was on some dumb chat room list and discussing the Shrub, and I was getting the best of some jerk on there and he got pissed. My sig at time was a spinning graphic that read "Eliminate Bush". The more we chatted and the more I got his goat, th more he goaded me on and finally just said for me to watch my door. I thought he was threatening me with bodily harm (I HOPED he was, ooooo I hoped he was) ANYWAY, that was on a Tuesday and Friday morning an agent arrived at my home with our local sheriff in tow and he had 5-6 pages of printouts of the conversations between me and the others on that site! He asked if I said all I wrote and I said yes and still stand by it but that the graphic which was the "wrong thing to have on the net" (he said) - and got me "turned in". We chatted awhile; I am in a wheelchair so I guess he assumed I was no real threat to the Shrub, we had some laughs and they remarked on my daughter and my art work on the walls... and that was that; but he said for me to "eliminate" the graphic. But within the hour (after asking me reams of questions of course) they had called my wife AT WORK to ask if I ever beat her!!! (Where the HECK did that come from?) Embarrassed her to death.
So... know that there IS a big brother and there are idiots on these boards and chat rooms.
It happened.

16. By all means it did
and I was as surprised as any; my wife had one FIT, I tell you. She had no idea what the heck was going on and when she found out, of course it was MY BAD for being on the net! Hahaha... it turned out alright but I am sure they watch every "i" that is dotted now. It was no laughing matter (until we finished and then reluctantly they admitted that neither of them was all that enamored with the Shrub but said for me to definitely STOP my anti-Bush chatter.
The main thrust is be very very careful in your wording...always.

11. You need to read up on carnivore. If you've been sending the
right kind of e-mail, or clicking on the right sites, they already have a file on you. Don't sweat it. The tax audits sucked, but other than that, it's not been too bad. yet.
