Good example of the Bush voter mind...
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 03:26 PM by Politicub
Our fresh out of college intern was a young republican while she was in school. She is also a big Bush supporter, and completely annonying about her worship of him.

Anyway, in our staff meeting this morning, she blurted out, "Who was Yassar Arafat? Who cares?" I kid you not. We at the table just looked at one another. I suggested she give google a spin.

She's the picture perfect example of the mind of the typical bush voter -- clueless and divorced from reality.

1. Well you know
shortly after bush took office, he was in a meeting with his cabinet and flat-out suggested totally abandoning the peace process in the Middle East, then suggested they work it out through violence, that that might make the solution appear faster or some shit.

There was shocked silence, especially from Colin Powell apparently.

So she's just being a good bushie!

Ug.

2. And to beat it all
She asked, "Are we supposed to like or hate him?"

Here - let me tell you how to think. It sickens me that people like this are in power. :eyes:

Poor girl. Hasn't been getting the memos apparently. Does she know who won the election? Does she know there's a war in Iraq? Not Iran.

11. 'Supposed to'? She needs her daily directive from hateradio.
Reminds me of the joke going around:

Cheney and Bush in an elevator. Cheney starts sniffing the air and making faces. Cheney says to Bush: "Did you fart?" Bush: "Was I supposed to?"

14. The media, propaganda, and changing things for the better
If a large proportion of The People do not become well-versed in the current use of agitprop and the skillful manipulation of words today, then there is no large chance of much in the way of change or transformation from a Democratic POV.

The most important tool in a revolution today is to be, or become, expert at discerning and translating agitprop, NewSpeak, and NewThink. Critical thinking is essential to divining the real meaning of what is presented via the mass media today.

Much money and time is spent on focus groups that are used to help propagandists phrase and re-frame essential issues so that they can be sold easily to any target group, large or small.

There are literally, hundreds of examples of very successful NewSpeak and the Bush Administration is one of it most avid users. NewSpeak investigation and translation is the most important power tool for resistance in this Century.

In my opinion, we either put that to the forefront or there is not much we can expect in our hopes and dreams for a better tomorrow. The times have changed and ideologues, reformers, and the rest, should consider the language war as an essential basic platform to work from.

Projecting a reason-based view of reality onto others is a lesson in futility. We would benefit from more empathy and understanding. Many people have not entered the Desert of the Real called reason as a major method of discerning a World view. There are vast numbers of people who are still very prone to what I call, “word magic”. They retain a vast amount of mythic ideation and can be manipulated easily when they suspend reason and critical thinking in favor of it.

While you can debate the above and its essential points, it seems to be the primary way that corporations, government, and political campaigns are working the masses. It seems to be overwhelmingly successful so far.
