OLBERMANN
It's Working.

I just heard a report that NBC gave him extra support to continue the story based on feedback from phone calls and emails, and other networks are getting calls and emails asking for a more Olbermann like approach (An Olbermann like approach!!! Crazy) as well members of the right media have begun to dismiss Olbermann as fake news and is worse than Dan Rather and should be pulled from Network news.

KEEP EMAILING HIM!!! SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!! Finally we have a voice in the mainstream media, show yournumbers in emails, letters, faxes, and phone calls.

2. The important thing is to..
WATCH HIM! Don't tune in for the re-cast at 12:00. Tune in at 8:00. If even for a moment. That's where the ratings are registered. I want him to NAIL O'Reilly.

8. I've been curious too, and have never been able to get an answer.
i'm just guessing that if the cable company can turn on my digi cable box over their network they can also figure out what i'm watching.

9. Nope
It's only if you have a special box...otherwise it is telephone surveys. There is no way they know what you are watching...that would be creepy....the computer...well that's another story.

16. Just wait until big brother implements the Internet over AC power lines
that they've been talking about. At that point they'll not only know what you're watching on TV, but they'll also know every time you make toast.

I've never been surveyed and I don't have a box. I'm sure there's other ways!

33. Through the NielsenTV ratings
http://www.nielsenmedia.com/whatratingsmean/

Measuring TV sets

In a specially selected sample of homes, Nielsen Media Research technicians install metering equipment on TV sets, VCRs and cable boxes (and even satellite dishes). The NielsenTV meters automatically and invisibly keep track of when the sets are on and what the sets are tuned to. These meters are connected to a central "black box," which is actually a very small computer and modem. Information from the meters is collected by the black box, and in the middle of the night all the black boxes call in their information to our central computers.

Identifying TV programs

For us to know what is on the channel at the time it is tuned, we have to collect a large amount of information every day about what is on every TV station and cable channel all across the country. A program may be scheduled by a network, but some stations that usually carry that network may not carry that program, or may delay the program and show it at a different time.

Nielsen Media Research's primary source of information about which programs are airing for each station or cable channel comes from a very special coded ID number that is part of almost every TV picture-a series of lines and dots in the top edge of the picture which labels the program and episode. Nielsen Media Research developed and patented this systems, which we call AMOL, or Automated Measurement Of Line-ups. All across the country, we have sites where TV stations are monitored and the program ID codes are detected and collected. Each night, these monitoring sites connect up to our central computer and download the information. We compile the electronic program information and compare it to other sources of information we have already received. If there are discrepancies, we call TV stations and cable operators to verify what actually was aired. Keeping track of what is on TV is also done with the help of program listings provided by networks, stations and cable systems, as well as published TV listings.

17. Donahue fell off because there was no support
Fox is strong because of support. Get everyone to email Olbermann and pass on the word, get everyone to watch Olbermann at 8 and pass on the word, Keep supporting men like Olbermann and radio like Air America like the Right does for Fox and we might be back in the fight and for the win. Reports show the only reason Olbermann was allowed to keep reporting this story was because of feedback and supports from outlets like emails. Let's keep this at a high volume, get out the word to support Olbermann. Let Bush know that the people do have a "Mandate" To stand up against Bush.

Damn. He didn't come on board until March when things were already underway.

He would have done a kick-ass job in the build-up coverage.

No worries, though.

He'll be here to cover Iran, Syria, .........

31. We have to keep the Olbermann connection Strong
Use him til we lose him.

Email him about voter Fraud.

Email him about the war.

About anything that we fight for, anything we feel the other news programs is not covering. The voter Fraud story might go cold, but we can't let Olbermann go old. He's our voice to the mainstream. We need to turn him into our Rush, Our The O'Reilly Factor , because Frankly, Olbermann is the only one giving us the time of day, if we lose him we're out in the cold again, So keep up the support, mention him to everybody, and see you at 8 PM MSNBC, and have a good laugh knowing as we speak GE and Microsoft are trying to think of a good way to fire Olbermann and silence us.
