I'm relatively certain their is going to be a protest on inauguration day and I beleive their should be... inauguration day should be the day the government hears our voices. However, what direction are we going to take these protests? What kind of message do we want to send?
Personally, I think people should openly organize marches on the capital and other federal buildings or protest places around the nation if you can't afford to go to D.C. However, I don't think these marches should be about Bush, Kerry, Edwards, Nader,Ashcroft, Rumsfeld or any other named politician. These marches or protests should send a message to our government on the issues. In other words we should not show favor or disdain for any one politician.
Before some righty tighty calls the FBI, I also welcome freepers and other Bush supporters to participate. Just remember... no naming politicians. That means no pro or anti Kerry and Bush representation by anybody. We're strictly their to voice our opinion on an issue important to us. This would be an amazing test to pass... If we, as Americans, can't assemble peacefully to voice our opinions in respect of each other as Americans, we've lost as a nation.
These could be examples for signs... "Eleminate No Bid Contracts" "No more pork barrel spending "Affordable Healthcare for ALL" "Cheaper Prescriptions" "Cheaper Gas" "No more torture" "No more secrets" "Secure Hospitals" "Where's Osama" "Better armor" "No to the Draft" "Freedom of Speech" "Re-enact the Brady Bill" "Don't Re-enact the Brady Bill" "Civil Unions for Gays" "Ban Gay Marriage" "Marriage is for the Church" "Separate Church and state" "Chalabi/Al Sadr for Pres?" "No illegal Detainments" "No Shadow Government" "No to Abortion" "Yes to Choice" "Fair Elections?" "Those were GEMS" "Don't fake your faith" "No to S.S. privatization." "No more tree farms" "Alternative fuels" "Higher Wages" "Better Education" "Slow down inflation"
Get it... no "Impeach Bush", no "Stop Bush" no "Vets Against Kerry", no "LibScum" or "Anti Christ" signs..... partisan rhetoric and politicians shouldn't be the issue on inauguration day. The policies established over the next four years should be the issue. Address the issues. Maybe I'm just some gloriously dilluded fool who thinks the American people can still come together and get us going in a positive direction through open communication.
