I just took the strangest Zogby poll.
Besides the usual whom did you vote for questions, there were some odd questions about Vietnam (?), guns laws, and then some final questions about if I accept Bush as my President and others along that line. If I believed my voted counted and if I believed Bush when he said he was going to reach out to the 55% Democrats to unite us. I said no, but seemed weird to me. Did Bush admit there are 55% of us? The polls would have us believing we are under that. Anyone else take this poll yet?

4. took it the other day
it was pretty weird. I think they're trying to determine from opinions on vietnam who has "justified war" bias versus who is an all out peacenik. I'm not sure what they're trying to derive, but most of the other questions need to be answered by all of us.

5. I just finished taking the same Zogby survey.
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 09:54 PM by PSU84
The Vietnam questions were probably paid for by whoever lobbies Congress in favor of closer ties to Vietnam. That group (some lobbying firm in DC, probably) in turn is probably paid paid by the govt. of Vietnam or by business interests in the U.S. who want freer trade between the U.S. and Vietnam. In either case, the motivation for those questions was almost certainly to promote more trade between the 2 countries. One way to do that is to find out how the public image of Vietnam in the U.S. can be improved - such as by promoting the idea that the govt. of Vietnam allows religious freedom and is actively working to resolve the MIA issue.

Remember, ever one of these surveys is paid for by someone who has a reason for asking those questions. I think another clien may be the NRA.

It's not as if the pollster is just asking cuz he's curious. He's asking cuz someone paid him to ask....

8. Took it yesterday.
A few Vietnam questions and they surprised me. I also said I would not accept Bush** and I did not believe he would reach out. I always say my vote matters but not sure if it is counted, or however they phrase that. It was different, I am anxious to find out the results.

9. I took the Zogby poll as well and it was strange
Viet Nam questions were bizarre- you are correct. I wonder what list they used to harvest the names from? I cannot imagine what the purpose of this was- nor will most people know (I'd imagine), know how to answer. Guns, Viet Nam and morals was my take- guess they are trying to track those items with presidental choices.
We'll have to se if they every post the results..

I thought the weirdest one I received asked something about eggs, or some such nonsense. That was strange

13. I loved the egg poll!
It actually educated me. On my next trip to the supermarket I looked for and found "free range" chicken eggs. I'd been too ignorant to know they were out there before. So now we're eating free range eggs as well as free range chickens. It's costing more, but I don't mind. I took the most recent poll mentioned here too. I found it interesting. And, of course made it clear that I don't see Bush as my president.

14. I feel hurt. I never got the egg poll.
Maybe it's because I live in a rural area. They probably assume we get eggs from our neighbors or have chickens ourselves.

29. I don't think "rural" mattered.
Doesn't get much more rural than where we live. To give you an idea the town we live in has maybe 500 to 700 people, one four way stop at the east end of town, 2 bars, one grain elevator, post office and a gazillion churches. Our little town is maybe 5 blocks wide and and 7 blocks long. The only services the city provides are water and trash. No sewer system, we all have our own septics tanks and everyone has their own propane tank in the back yard. The Mayor's huge dog roams over to the meat locker place, he gets a huge bone and goes back over, chews on it in front of the bank and waits for his master (who is also the banker) to get off work.

Small town life, ya gotta love it. :-)

I use those kinds of eggs and still the poll was confusing to me. Enjoy the eggs. Did you notice how much larger, deeper in color and stronger the yokes are?

25. Well then I guess it wasn't as weird or futile as I thought
That's Eggcellent *groan* that it raised your awareness of buying chicken friendly eggs. That's all I buy and I should have remembered that not everybody knows about them. I hope it raised the awareness bar for more people about the animals we use for our benefit.

Have you ever tried organic milk? Yes it's more expensive but god is it so worth it. It tastes nothing like the regular milk you get in stores and the cows are treated humanely. They're given no hormones, no antibiotics, and no pesticides are used to grow their feed.

That's all I buy, organic, friendly and humane products. And if I can't find it, we simply go without it for a while.

I thought the, if so and so were to tell you that Vietnam is now a paradise with beaches, would you visit very strange? The list of people, John McCain, Oliver North and I can't remember the rest. Are they planning commercials with these guys as shills?

17. Seemed rather Pro-Kerry
especially in the Vietnam section, where they asked if you were aware that we've found the remains of 800 soldiers with the help of the families and the Vietnamese government. That is a direct rebuttal to the POW/MIA beef with Kerry about helping to naturalize relations with Vietnam. Without naturalization, we couldn't find the remains. But without accounting for the remains, the POW families didn't want naturalization. Real catch-22.

I wonder how Zogby is feeling these days. Might be showing his pro-Kerry leanings.

His polls showed Kerry as winning Ohio and the results didn't pan out that way. I think he thinks there was a stolen election too.

22. I took it the other day
That "accept Bush" question was odd. I also recall some other question that asked to choose one of two choices. I declined it because I wanted to choose both. Wish I could remember what it was. It struck me as not an either or issue.

It was a very lengthy poll. Probably the longest yet.

26. I started it
The Vietnam and some of the gun questions weren't things I have much of an opinion on. It was running very slowly at the time so I'll go back to it if it's still open. Didn't get to the accept Bush question. I guess it would be worth wading through the rest to say "no" to that.

He's trying to get a handle on WTF happened because if he doesn't, his business is toast. JMO
